Ghosts of Hogwarts

"Harry Potter! Will you pay attention?"

Professor Trelawny's irritated voice broke the silence like a firecracker in Divination class, and Harry looked up. He hurridley put his piece of parchment away, which was really the Marauders Map in disguise, a clever trick Hermione showed him in Transfiguration yesterday. He made the map viewable only through his glasses by using a Transmorgrifian spell, with the added downside of quick and painful death should it be used incorrectly.

"Now that Potter has been kind enough to act his age, I have an important announcement to make. At the end of this term, I will be leaving Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, in order to seek a new fourtune under the employment of the Minister of Magic." Professor Trelawney explained, in a somber voice.

Lavender Brown looked away from her crystal ball, and twoards the Professor with a crestfallen face. Pavarti Patil looked shocked, along with the rest of the class. Harry assumed Lavender must have known about Professor Trelawney leaving, wether it be through word of mouth, or her skill with Divination. Harry would of course be relieved, because he and Ron both hated Divination, owing to constant predictions of Harry's death.

"While this does mean the end of Divination as a subject taught at this school, I still encourage all of you to continue study at your own pace, when not busied up with other classes. This subject will be replaced by Ghost Studies, taught by Professor Hiko, which will be a term long class. If anyone does not wish to take this subject, please talk to your head of house to rearrange your schedule. Class dismissed." She finished.

Everybody got up quickly, and was very eager to leave the classroom, owing to the fact that outside was a sunny winter's day, and nobody wanted to spend very long in the castle where it was very cold, and not a lot to do. Harry descended down the silver rope ladder first, and waited over by the window for Ron as the rest of the class came down. After about 2 minutes of students pouring down the ladder, Ron finally came down, and approached Harry with a smile.

"No more Divination! That class was a mistake from the second it began- I mean, have you ever seen anything in a crystal ball?" Ron inquired.

"Nope" said Harry nonchalantly. They took a turn down the spiral staircase down towards the lake, passing Sir Cadogan on the way.

"Stand and fight, you Scury Cur!" Sir Cadogan bellowed as they walked past him. Ron gave him an offensive gesture with his hand that would've surely docked them 20 points from Gryffindor if there had been any teacher close by. Harry kicked him in the shin, and they walked into the Great Hall.

Today's dinner of choice happened to be roast lamb, with a side of mashed potatos and helpings of gravy.
