The message's in the note's are little poems that I wrote one night so they belong to me.

Mike sat as his desk reading a bit of folded paper. He had kept it with him for the past five years. Mike knew he could never speak the words he wanted to so he wrote them on a piece of paper now as a reply to her last message.

I watch you when you're not by my side
I love the fact that we mae this ship run smoothly
I can see that a ship doesn't run smoothly in you
If you just let in again
I promise to settle everything.

Mike put the the paper in an envelope before he walked out of his cabin. The envelope had one simple work on it: Katie.
After Kate had read Mike's note she wrote her own back not having to think about what to write.

I'm right under you
Yet you treat me as an equal
There's a war raging inside of me
I want to let you in
I know you cna make peace.

Kate stuck the folded paper under her CO's door before returning to the bridge. Mike entered the bridge and turned straight to Kate.
"Let's take the next stop. And together we'll move through the storm and war," Mike told Kate.
Kate smiled at Mike and nodded.
Nav, Swain and RO loked on in shock as Mike kissed Kate. They turned to each other shrugging non of them having any idea what happened. Mike led Kate out of the bridge their hands linked, both wearing a large smile and for one oblivious to the people around them except each other.

Kate's old note to Mike was:

I love you now
And always will
But because I care
I'm going to leave
So you don't lose your career
Goodbye my love
