1: Stupid

Having kicked his guard out into the hallway, Zuko sat moping alone in his room. Door locked, curtains closed, nothing could get in to bother him in his brooding state. No sunlight, no servants, no Mai… Oh sweet silence! Frankly he was delighted, knowing that if he had let her share in his depression it would have probably just turned her on. Yuch. Not exactly what he was going for right now.

Why the hell couldn't he get rid of her? What a stupid question. It wasn't that he couldn't get rid of her, because he knew if he had tried… well it wasn't that because he had his ways. He just couldn't bring himself to try. He owed her his life. Why did he have to have a conscience? He screwed everything up because of some twisted sense of morality. ARGH! Always with the honor!

Why did Katara have to send him this thing anyway? Stupid flowery invitation. Stupid guy that wasn't stupid him! Jen. A stupid guy with a stupid girly name! Well somehow this stupid girly-guy had beaten him out for his prize. Stupid, stupid, stupid Zuko! This was after all, all his fault.

Steaming, Zuko threw his fist at wall and doubled over in pain when his bending didn't so much as mark the stone. Cursing under his breath, he sucked on his bleeding knuckles and tried to ignore Mai who was now banging loudly on the door, howling at him to let her in. "Go away!" he snapped. She kept banging.

"Zuko, let me in! I need to talk to you," she called, desperate to be heard through the thick doors.

"Leave me alone!" he yelled from inside.

"Stop being such a baby! I mean you cant possibly hate weddings any more then I do and I'm not throwing a tantrum. Come out here now! I need to know which dress I should wear for the ceremony and which one I should wear for the party and Ty-Lee's being absolutely no help."

"We're not going!"

"WHAT?! Of course we're going! She's like your best friend! What's wrong with you?" He grunted and opened the door.

"No."

"Oh I get it now," Mai said nodding. "Your angry because your not in the procession."

"Yah. That's it. I'm mad cause I don't get to escort some dumb bridesmaid down the isle." He said sarcastically. Mai rolled her eyes.

"Fine then. If you're not feeling left out what is it?"

"Go away Mai." He said defeated. "I just want to be alone." Mai's stare hardened accusingly.

"Wait. Your not gonna dump me again are you?" Suddenly a picture of lots of sharp metal blades sticking out of him in awkward places crossed Zuko's mind and he quickly closed the door before shouting "no". Damn. How much longer was this going to go on? He was kidding himself to think he could ever love Mai the way he loved Katara. He didn't even like Mai anymore. He could barely tolerate her even.

"Fine. Were leaving tomorrow morning. Be ready." An excited squeal came from the hallway. Yah, he thought. She really hates weddings.

This had to end. ALL of it. Starting with stupid Jen.
