I Play The Game

Note: Short Poem which features some Yu-Gi-Oh references. Side fic from Milk. A reason why Vanessa plays Yu-Gi-Oh for...

I play the game
But not as you think
I play the game
And then I'm gone in a wink

Do I have a purpose?
An unyielding reason
Why I forced myself
Into collecting these devious cards

They draw the cards
I sit and watch them play
Sometimes I wonder
Do they draw their fates as well?

Some people play the game for fame
Some for revenge
Some for saving their relatives
Yet they still play the game

Without any shame

The tri-color hair plays for the sake of his grandpa
While the brunette seeks for his little brother
The silver hair plays for the lost of his loving wife
As the blond dog gives sight for his sister while he plays

The tanned blond plays for vengance of bloodshed
Seeking for one who is guilty, yet did nothing at all
The ring theif plays for power, so he may destroy others
Yet in the very end, he is destroyed and never seen again

So why do I play?
I gave you reasons why the others do
Mine reason is no better than the others
So I'll tell you anyways

I play the game...
The Game...
The Game that twists my spine...
Perhaps it does incase my soul

Into one of those lovely duel cards

I play the game...
To escape
Espacing the pain of living
In the real world

Isn't that so sad?

"tri-color hair"=Yugi Motou
"brunette"=Seto Kaiba
"silver hair"=Pegasus J. Crawford
"blond dog"=Jounoci Katsuya
"tanned blond"=Malik Isthar
"ring theif"=Yami Bakura
the voiceover=Vanessa Alexandra

And yes, in the manga, Yami Bakura is no more when Malik/Yami Malik kicks his ass with the God Card, Ra. It turns out our ring theif yami is "the darkness that lurks in our minds". I'm not kidding. This does happen.

Scary, huh?
