In a vast field under the wide open sky, a lone green Yoshi takes a carefree stroll across the lush grass. As he passed a cherry blossom tree gently swaying in the wind, his nose caught the scent of something delicious.

Yoshi cheered happily and ran off to find the source of this yummy smell, salivating when the aroma got stronger. After much running, Yoshi felt really tired. When he stopped to catch his breath a large, shiny red apple came tumbling down a nearby hill and landed a few feet away! Yoshi awed in joy and flung his long tongue to catch the fruit.

Just as his tongue was about to coil around the apple, it started to roll quickly away. His tongue cracked the air like a whip and retracted back in his mouth.

Kirby emerged from a bush of flowers with his mouth wide open, the apple moved quicker toward his inhaling mouth.

Yoshi quickly lashed his tongue and this time he caught the apple. Kirby yelped in shock, leapt forward to grab the apple with his stubby arms and began tugging. Both made it clear to one another immediately that they were not intending to let go easy.

Without warning the apple slipped out of the tug-o-war, going flying through the air. Yoshi and Kirby bolted right after it, running as hard as they could. From both perspectives, the apple seemed to be moving in slow motion. It shined in the sunlight so scrumptiously, their eyes sparkled in anticipation of the taste.

As the apple decreased in altitude, Yoshi and Kirby made a jump for it at the same time with Yoshi's tongue in the air and Kirby's mouth open and inhaling.

A tongue from a third being suddenly swiped the apple from their sights. The two barely had time to see who it was before gravity brought them down on their stomachs.

Standing there was Kirby's friend Gooey, and he was munching happily. Yoshi and Kirby both stared Gooey, reluctantly accepting defeat.

From another slope, a melon came rolling down and splashed directly into a pond. This caught the attention of Yoshi and Kirby, they slowly turned to each other and made a dash for the pond, then jumped in the water.

Gooey watched the duo swim race for the melon, still chewing on the apple. Then casually slithered away.

Author's Note:

I can seriously picture Yoshi and Kirby fighting over food. XD Haha! Gooey is so nonchalant, that's kinda how he is in Kirby's Dreamland 3 if a second player isn't controlling him x3
