Crystal's Adventure

A Pokemon Fan-Fic

By: SilverNinetales

Crystal stirred as her alarm clock beeped. Usually, she would lie in her bed for a good five minutes before she felt like getting up. She would usually be tired from staying up to late.

However, today was not one of those days. Crystal jumped up almost immediately. She threw on her green, v-neck with the white circle in the middle and her best pair of skinny jeans. She tied up her black tennis shoes and put on her favorite hat: the white one with the pink flower pin. She pulled her long, blue hair into a messy ponytail

She looked at herself through her computer screen, since she didn't have a mirror. Her blue eyes sparkled. Crystal looked at her pale skin. It was December, so this wasn't unusual.

Today is the day, Crystal thought. My adventure starts today. She pulled out a packet she kept in her top drawer. On it read the three pokemon she could choose to train: Cyndaquil, the fire type, Totodile, the water type, and Chikorita, the grass type. Which on should I choose?

Totodile is the strongest one, but it's also quite fierce. Cyndaquil is the quieter one, but can also have a high temper. Chikorita is the sweetest one, but is fragile, and weak… Crystal let her thoughts carry her away. That was until; she heard her Mom yell, "Crystal! It's almost time to leave! Are you ready?"

"Yeah, Mom, I'm coming!" Crystal grabbed her pink bag and shoved the packet, her wallet, and some candy bars she stole from her fridge into it. She stole one last glance at her computer screen. Crystal hurried downstairs.

She saw her Mom sitting down and drinking coffee. Her short, brown hair was in a clean bun, still wet from her shower earlier that morning. She wore her favorite dress, a silky, light pink one. Her brown eyes stayed fix on her mug. We look nothing alike.

"Missing something?" her mom chuckled. Crystal stared at her mother, thinking hard until she realized what she had forgotten to put in her bag. My phone!

On their wooden table lay her phone. She picked it up, a wave of relief washing over her as she slid her device in her jean pocket. Crystal bent over and kissed her mother goodbye. She was about to walk out the door, but her mother's words stopped her.

"Forgetting something else?" her mother asked. Crystal was dumb-founded. What else have I forgotten? As if her mom could read her mind, she responded.

"I'm just messing with you," she said, jokingly. Relief and embarrassment covered her like a blanket. Crystal hit her mom on the shoulder. Not enough to hurt, or leave bruises, though.

She turned her heel and walked toward her front door. Suddenly she was hit with a shock of fear and excitement. Should I really be leaving home? She looked at the ground in front of her. The floorboard was surprisingly fascinating to her. This is what I've wanted to do my whole life. And you know what they say: It's now or never.

Outside, light snow was falling down from the sky. Crystal was the only one outside. That didn't surprise her. It was freezing. She pulled out the coat she had put in her bag yesterday and put it on. She headed towards a large building near the edge of her home, New Bark Town.

She suddenly spotted a mysterious kid outside of the building she was heading for. It was a male, and he looked about the same age as her, 11. He had dark, red hair and pale skin, like her. His eyes were fixed on her, and they never left

"Can I help you with something?" Crystal asked. There was curiosity, with a hint of annoyance, in her tone. He responded with a grunt and shifted his eyes toward the outward parts of town. She continued walking until she was in front of her destination: Professor Elm's Pokemon Research and Discovery Lab. She took one last glance at the red-haired boy before entering. What a strange kid…
