Colin was playing hide and seek with a Ravenclaw called Luna, another Gryffindor, Ginny Weasley and a few others, but all of the others had disappear now, since Luna was counting and they were all running around the castle trying to find the best hiding places, knowing that common rooms and house areas were out of the question.
As he ran down a corridor he thought might be the seventh floor, Colin couldn't help remembering the book he had read just the year before. The real name of the book had faded from his mind, but Narnia hadn't, nor had the idea of playing hide and seek in a big manor house. Even without finding a hidden world, the idea of all the hiding places which must be in a manor or castle like Hogwarts made Colin want to play. He'd jumped at the idea when Ginny suggested it,on a boring first weekend, which really wasn't as interesting as weekends in a magical school should be. Literally, he'd jumped in the air, before insisting someone else counted.
He never thought to question the door appearing beside him, or the fact it quickly grew into a wardrobe sticking about a foot out of the wall. What did start Colin questioning was the space inside the Wardrobe.
After walking through the door Colin saw trees, or at least what looked like trees, but surely, even in a magical castle, there wouldn't be trees growing inside. Perhaps his accidental magic was acting without him knowing again and creating a Narnia like room. Maybe it really was something in the Castle. Narnia was a fictional place, wasn't it?
Even as he walked through the forest, grinning at the trees surrounding him, Colin could only just begin to believe that he actually was in Narnia, as unlikely as that seemed. Hell, Colin had read the first book in the series and knew this couldn't be Narnia unless by some shock of coincidence the wardrobe he'd entered was made from the wood of a tree whose seed came from Narnia.
Still, he thought, I'll stay here for a few hours, maybe make a den out of the branches lying about, and climb a few trees. I can find out if it's actually Narnia by seeing how much time passes while I'm in here. With that decision made, Colin happily went about occupying his time, exploring the wood, and having fun in it, unknowing of the all out search his friends had mounted by the time a few hours had passed, each of them panicking that Colin had actually managed to get lost while they played Hide and Seek.
It was only when Colin's stomach began rumbling that he decided it was time to leave the wardrobe and headed back through the door, he'd remembered to check where it was regularly while exploring and playing.
He wasn't sure how long he'd been gone, but remembered it was just before lunch when he'd gone into the wardrobe so even if time hadn't passed he'd be able to get something to eat.
What shocked him then was being ambushed by all his friends as he walked into the Great Hall, having worked out by that time that is was Dinner time. Ginny and Luna had even gone so far as to hug him and refuse to let go for some minutes.
"Where have you been hiding? We looked for you everywhere!" Ginny demanded as soon as she let go.
Colin flushed a little, wary of the girl whom had already shown had a bit of a temper sometimes. "In a forest in a wardrobe." He muttered.
"Like Narnia?" One of the other girls said scornfully. Colin thought her name was Violet. "There's no such place."
"Well of course not. Time passed at the same pace while I was there didn't it? Or are you about to tell me a week had passed?" Colin replied, cheerfully, deciding not to let the scorn get to him. "Anyway, I took pictures. So we'll see who was right when I get them developed."
