I watched as your battered body laid helplessly on the hospital bed. I couldn't believe this was happening. You were dying and I was useless to do anything about it. It started when I received a phone call from you on my cell. I guess you had heard the news about how my boyfriend left me far in town. I didn't have a ride and was happy to walk but you had said other wise. You wouldn't back down. I told you not to go, it was too icy, and we were expecting snow, but you went anyways in hopes I was safe.
They told me you were hit from behind and it forced your car into an eighteen wheeler. It then took hours to pry you out of the car. I was scared. Then when the doctor told me that you may not make it I became terrified. You could be torn from my life forever.
I clutched your hand while you stayed in your coma-like state. Something told me that no matter how much I would hope, wish, or pray you still wouldn't make it. I bit my lip to hold back to on coming tears but let them slide down my cheeks anyways. My burning red eyes glanced at the window to see small flakes. Snow. Then it hit me, as snow began to fall you began to slip through my fingers forever. I couldn't except that, it was too soon. What ever happened to the promises we made as kids.
Just as your heart monitor stopped its steady tempo beating and stayed one straight sound my lips had sealed your with a kiss.
