This is the first chapter of the Dragonslayer fic I promised you guys! I think it came out really well. I've got some more fic ideas coming up that I want to try out including a Blake x Jaune fic. If I do write that one I will need a few weeks to draw up the plot and work out the characters. I might set it in a post-apocalyptic Remnant where there are no Grimm but there are like zombies or that sort of thing. I'm not fully settled on whether or not I should move forward with that one.

This fic mainly serves as a way to help build the Dragonslayer part of the RWBY fandom. There is a noticeable shortage of fics featuring this ship and fewer good ones at that. It's something that I've decided to fix. The few good Dragonslayer fics that are not smut are One-Night Brand, Blondes Before Beacon, and It all Started with Sunfire.

My idea for Yang's personality stems from the butterfly effect. I will not tell you guys why she is so shy at the moment. You'll be given that in due time. Just know that I've known people like this before so I know how to build a character like her. And for Jaune, he pretty much follows the archetypal jock/nerd motif. Basically, he is me from back when I was in high school, but I played American football and this Jaune plays the real football. I was also not open about my enjoyment of anime either. It was something I kept secret.

Jaune carried a stack of four boxes piled high in his arms. He was slowly inching his way up the stairs bringing some of his precious baubles with him. His mother shouted something from the foyer, and several blonde figures rushed past him. Nearly knocking him down the stairs and possibly to a broken neck.

"Oh shit!" Jaune caught himself and stood still waiting for the boxes to settle. Half of the stuff he was carrying was comic books and video games, and the other half was a bunch of decorations and random stuff. Nothing too breakable except his game console and some of his more valuable comics and manga.

Jaune's father saved him by taking the top two boxes. He brought them to the top of the stairs and slid them down the hallway. "There. Smarter, not harder Jaune."

Recently Jaune's father, Brigadier General Nicholas Arc, was stationed in Vale to work inside the Valish High Command. So Jaune and the rest of his family had to drop everything and go with him. It was an unfortunate situation that happened to many military families. But from what Jaune was told, he would be staying in Vale permanently.

Jaune wasn't too excited about having to abandon his friends after their incredible football season last year. The Blacklight Knights absolutely demolished everybody in their league and were in line to fight for the national championships this year. The team celebrated their league championship and even had a going away party for Jaune and a few other guys who were shipping out. At least the school Jaune was going to now had their own football team.

After several more minutes of struggling, Jaune finally climbed to the top of the stairs and shortly after, his room. The house his family was given was a manor with a dozen bedrooms, and bathrooms galore! It was a significant improvement over the last house he lived in which left Jaune sharing a room with his older sister, Rouge. Something both teens could agree on is they were glad for that extra space.

Jaune used his foot to turn the doorknob and pushed the door open. His room was large and had its own walk-in closet and bathroom. Compared to his last room; this one was almost twice the size and double that again because of the loss of a person. So Jaune had four times the space to do whatever a hormonal seventeen-year-old does in his spare time.

So far, Jaune had all of his stuff brought in and would just have to go back for his bed. His sisters somehow were able to work more efficiently then he could and got all of their possessions inside of the house in about twenty minutes; whereas Jaune took almost an hour. Once Jaune could retrieve the final items he needed, Jaune could finally begin the unpacking and rearranging process.

Although between Jaune's extracurricular activities, his room wasn't going to get too much use. Since he was a tri-sport athlete, those being football, swimming and track. Jaune would be spending a majority of his afternoon in the gym or on a field. All to be the best at what he did.

Jaune was no meat-head, however. He had the tenth best GPA out of five-hundred people during his sophomore year. Good grades were instilled into him from a young age by his older sister and both of his parents. He did slack off occasionally from time to time to give his brain and his body a break. If not, Jaune surely would have gone insane.

Not to mention his sisters also drove him insane already. He loved them and hated them at the same time. Now that Jaune had his own room and more importantly his own bathroom; life could be so much easier for him. No more having to change his shirt because he brushed up against a makeup covered bathroom sink or having to fight for the chance to shower before the hot water ran out.

"Aye, Jaune," his oldest sister, Rouge, called out from the hallway. Rouge was the oldest of the Arc Family. Jaune's sisters gave her the title of "The Perfect Child." If her moniker didn't give it away, she was the star of the Arc household. Perfect grades, captain of the cheer squad, varsity track athlete, and all-around perfect human being. Rouge was a blonde like Jaune with long straight hair that came down to her shoulders. Her body was athletic with a curvy appearance due to her constant training.

She was set to graduate this spring with the honour of being the valedictorian of the Blacklight Preparatory Academy. Going to Beacon Academy probably wouldn't change her status, and the woman could easily fight for and win that number one spot.

As hard as Jaune tried, he would always be second best when compared to her. She was just too gifted while Jaune had to work for everything. It helped Jaune's confidence out immensely when she told him about how difficult it was being put on a pedestal and would be glad if Jaune could take some of the spotlights from her.

"You better not be rubbing one out in there!" They were also really close. That was one of the perks of being forced to live in the same room with your sibling. However, some issues arose due to the noticeable lack of locks on the door. Jaune no longer had to deal with that since his room finally had a lock. "We've got work to do!"

Jaune threw open the door and charged out trying to save his reputation. Blush firmly in place. "I am not," he shouted back in indignation at his older sister. It was so embarrassing whenever she brought that up. It lead to the rule of knocking before you enter anybody's room. A practice that everybody followed religiously.

"Just checking," she mumbled with a hint of laughter. "I'd rather not walk in on you again while you're christening your room." Jaune's blush grew even darker. He was so thankful for the lock on his door now. And the fact he would not be sharing a room with anybody else.

"When are you going to let that go," Jaune whined running his hands through his hair. "It only happened once!" His sisters had the foresight not to be caught doing anything and Jaune in his moment forgot to block the door with something.

"Walking in on you, spanking your monkey once is already too many times," Rouge retorted poking Jaune in the chest. "Although if you ever managed to get a girlfriend... or boyfriend, I'm not judging. And if you ever brought anybody home! I might be willing to drop it!" Jaune's face lost some of its colour and remained slightly pink. While the girls thought they kept their theories on which way Jaune swung a secret, he knew all about them. It helped when your favourite younger sister was willing to trade secrets for money.

"JAUNE!" Suddenly a neighbouring door flew open, and a green-haired body flew out. It tackled Jaune and pinned him to the floor.

"Hey, Jade," Jaune groaned as he tried to catch his breath.

"Will you help set up my room?! Please-please-please-please~," Jaune's youngest sister begged as she sat on top of him. She widened her eyes to give the appearance of the puppy-dog eyes. Something few in the family could resist.

Jade Emert-Arc, was the youngest of the family at age six. The Arc Family adopted the Fox Faunus after Jaune's father found her while on deployment in Vacuo. Since then, Jaune and all of his sisters fell in love with the child and doted on her constantly. Their parents loved how quickly they accepted her into the fold and made sure they didn't show too much attention to the child so the others would not become jealous.

"Fine, I will," Jaune gave in to his sister's demands. Jade's response was a gleeful cheer and a hug before running back into her room.

"Ha, weakling," Rouge quipped as she pulled Jaune to his feet.

"Shut up!"

...

Once Jaune finally got everything moved into the house and haphazardly thrown into place. He snuck back up to his room so he could arrange his living space. Everything in his boxes survived the trip which Jaune was thankful for since some of his comics were quite rare and valuable.

Alright. Where do I begin? Jaune stared at the boxes piled around his room. He already arranged them into separate groups with his clothes over by his closet, and everything else was just spread out. He didn't bother taking apart his bed when they moved to Vale since it was just a mattress with a wooden frame holding it up.

Most of Jaune's furniture was just stuff he brought over from Blacklight. He and Rouge shared an entertainment centre and flatscreen (both were given to Jaune.) His parents would just buy Rouge her furniture, or she would go without it since she was going off to the Valish Military Academy in a few months. The rest of his sisters and Jaune already made a list of what they needed for their rooms. Jaune's parents would have no problem affording everything.

His family was wealthy due to Jaune's father being a high ranking officer, and his mother was a neurosurgeon. The move allowed his mother to actually live with the family since she practised out of Vale, and would give Jaune the opportunity to live at home and go to the University of Vale when he graduated Beacon Academy. So it was a win-win for everybody.

Rouge and Jaune were the least spoiled out of the entire household. Meaning their parents made them work for what they wanted. Summer jobs, odd tasks around the house, and working part-time during the school year was how Jaune managed to buy all of his comics and most of his clothes. It was a part of his father's conservative ideology about having to earn what you wanted.

Now that the two oldest in the Arc Family were star athletes with scholarships and a direct line to whatever college they chose; Momma and Pappa Arc decided to spoil their oldest children. Jaune was given a sports car after he led his team to a league championship, and Rouge was given a hyperbike after she smashed the national records in the 400m, 100m, and 100m hurdles.

The test drive for Jaune's car was... interesting because he never drove stick before. His mother encouraged Jaune to get an automatic, but his father vetoed her proposal. Jaune figured it out after about twenty minutes and was able to shift gears like an old pro. And now the black and yellow sports car sat in the driveway waiting for Jaune to show it off at school tomorrow.

Jaune slapped a few posters up on the wall. Mostly footballers, and a few of his favourite tv shows. A few anime characters were among those posted up on the wall. Rouge always teased him about having those posters and was convinced that was the reason as to why Jaune never had a girlfriend, even going so far as to call Jaune a weeb or neckbeard. All in good fun, however, because Jaune had his own list of insults that could be thrown back at her.

Next on the list were his video games and comics. Jaune had enough comic books to fill two 2ftx2ft boxes and half as many video games. Whenever he wasn't training, doing homework, or hanging out with his mates, Jaune could be found playing video games with one of his sisters or reading and collecting comics. His entire collection fit easily inside of his entertainment centre and a small shell in the top of his closet.

Finally, Jaune had his... clothes. He would get to putting those away eventually; probably after his mom or one of his sister made a fuss about it.

[The Next Morning: 5 am]

Jaune's alarm clock began blaring into his right ear. It was one of those analogue clocks with the two bells on top! You know! Those clocks that will wake you up out of your death! He hated that fucking alarm clock with an unbridled passion! His mother bought that for him when he started playing football in high school and had to go to morning practice. Now that Jaune was soon going to be practising in the morning with a football team; he needed to wake up ass-early in the morning on the regular. At least for the next few weeks.

"Shut the fuck up," Jaune grumbled throwing the alarm clock across the room. He didn't want to get up. He worked out yesterday with his father and two of his sisters after they set up a squat rack and bench press in the basement. And now his ass was really sore. "Ugghhh, why do I have to go to class?!" Jaune drifted back to sleep. Hopefully, he could get another five minutes or twenty.

His bedroom door opened without Jaune noticing. A tall blonde tip-toed to Jaune's bedside. Jaune laid there snoring like a chainsaw blissfully unaware of the assailant right next to him.

"Get up," Rouge demanded as she pushed Jaune off his bed with her foot. Jaune took his blankets and pillow with him. It was Rouge's responsibility to wake Jaune whenever he refused to get up.

"Eat shit and die Rouge!" Jaune pulled his blankets back over him and curled up into a ball. The cold hardwood floor was doing nothing to deter the shirtless teenager from getting another ten minutes of sleep.

"You better wake up before I fuck that ass up again," Rouge threatened Jaune as she went around to where Jaune had fallen off the bed. Jaune didn't stir and began snoring again. Rouge saw that as the last straw and went into Jaune's bathroom. Coming out with a large glass of water and dumping it on Jaune's head.

"HEY" Jaune threw himself to his feet and went after his sister. However, she was fast enough to slam the door shut before Jaune could gain any real ground on her. Now Jaune was left standing alone half-covered in water.

Jaune grabbed his blankets and threw them back onto his bed. He would dry them out later, but now he needed a shower.

...

Jaune threw on his uniform consisting of a dark suit and blazer. They weren't his usual style of joggers and hoodie, but they fit at least somewhat comfortably. The clothing fit snugly over his muscular body and left little to the imagination.

He grabbed his duffel bag with his workout clothes and his bookbag. It was almost six-thirty in the morning, and Jaune was going to grab some breakfast before he left for class. One of his parents or his sisters should be cooking something in the kitchen. Or at the very least Jaune could grab some toast. Most of the time in Blacklight it was up to him or Rouge to cook for his younger siblings due to his mother's absence and his father's busy schedule.

Jaune opened his bedroom door to find a mess of people weaving in and out of the hallway. His younger sisters were scrambling to get ready for classes, and his oldest sister was nowhere to be found. Jaune pushed through the mass of children and made his way downstairs.

In the foyer, Jaune dropped his bags on the ground. The dining room was... somewhere? Jaune didn't know the house that well and struggled for a moment. The size of the house was appreciated, but it was large enough for Jaune to get lost in. One of his younger sisters rushed past him and down a corridor. He decided to follow, and hopefully, it led him to the kitchen.

...

"Ok, this is weird," Jaune blurted out what he was thinking. His entire family was sitting down for breakfast. Something like this had not happened in several years; not since Jaune's father was stationed in Blacklight taking the majority of the family with him.

The table was lined with massive piles of pancakes. Scrambled eggs, several pounds of bacon, and fruit sat in the centre of the spread. Somebody had gone all out today and prepared a feast for at least two dozen people. It smelled pretty god damned good too.

"Sit down Jaune," his father commanded, and Jaune obeyed. Jaune could easily see that this wasn't the old man's idea. His father looked rather tense and uncomfortable just sitting down at the table. Actually, everybody besides Jaune's three youngest sisters looked like they weren't enjoying this.

Normally breakfast was always a grab and go deal. Eggs or a slice of toast and then off to school. There was no sitting down at the table and eating pancakes. During the beginning of the football season, breakfast was a nonexistent ordeal, and everybody just had to wait until lunch for food.

"So what is this about," Rouge asked. She was sitting next to Jaune picking at her plate. She was obviously unsettled by this sudden change in the morning ritual.

"Your father and I have both taken up administrative positions," Jaune's mother, Claire, began explaining. "I will still be a practising surgeon, but your father will be taking a command position in the city. That means our schedules won't be as busy as before, and we'll have more time to be a family."

"Ok something's up," Rouge whispered to Jaune. He didn't disagree. Something about this screamed unordinary, and Jaune wanted to ask what was up.

"To do away with any of your suspicions." Nicholas obviously referred to the oldest of the Arc children. Jaune wondered how he knew about that. It probably was something his father learned when he was special forces. "I have been promoted to Lieutenant General. So I will no longer be deployed or have to deal with such a heavy schedule. I will be working during the day and will be able to cook meals like this."

Several of Jaune's sisters lit up and congratulated Nicholas on his promotion. Rouge and Jaune followed up with their praise before they both dug in.

...

"Ok, kids have a great day at school. Jaune-Rouge! Remember you have to go see Principal Goodwitch before school starts," Claire waved to her kids as most of them began walking to the bus stop.

Jaune started his car and let it warm up. Rouge started her motorcycle and wheeled it over to Jaune.

"Race you to school," she challenged Jaune and threw her helmet on. Rouge didn't wait for Jaune to accept her dare and sped off as fast as the bike could carry her. There was no way Jaune could physically catch up to her. He could break a few speed limits and red lights, but any traffic or obstacles could easily stop Jaune.

[Beacon Academy Courtyard: 7:24 am]

Jaune whipped into the parking lot about a half hour before class could begin. The flashy black and yellow sports car brought him some attention from the bystanders who glanced in Jaune's direction. Some people scowled as Jaune hopped out of his car and grabbed his duffle bag. They obviously didn't take too kindly to a rich kid.

A few of the kids that Jaune could only assume were gridiron players were silently talking about Jaune. He knew this because of their unanimous scowl and the fact the biggest one was pointing at him and whispering to his shorter friends. I don't think they like me.

Although most of the kids at Beacon were either really rich, or they were some of the best athletes Vale could offer. Beacon was also known for its outstanding academic history as the best secondary school in Vale and possibly the world. Basically, if you were a prodigy of some form, Beacon wanted you. It was also a feeder school for the University of Vale, the top college in the world. So almost all students who graduated from Beacon went on to receive a top-tier education from the most prestigious college on the planet.

Jaune kind of looked out of place with his long uncontrollable hair. He tied it up during football games or combed it back like a certain DJ or actor that played in a movie involving a world war and some zombies when his father needed him for some military deal. Jaune didn't listen to his older sister or any of his sisters when they told him to cut it. He just liked it to be long.

Some of the other kids had weird hairstyles in all sorts of colours. So Jaune didn't look too out of place. His last school was more clean cut than this one. They also had their own alterations to the school uniforms. Some kids were missing ties, or they didn't have their blazers buttoned up. Others had colourful bows in their hair or pieces of ribbon attached to their uniforms.

His first goal at Beacon was to find Goodwitch's office. Since class was nearly two weeks in already, Jaune had to meet with the headmistress to discuss a few things. Luckily the football season didn't start until next week, so Jaune had time to kill before the real fun began. But he shouldn't dawdle and waste the headmistress' time. Jaune didn't want to make the wrong impression on his first day.

Jaune pushed through several groups of students and found himself in the main entrance of the school. The building was abuzz with activity with hundreds of students walking around. Several groups closed as Jaune walked past and had hushed conversations. Several girls looked him up and down and then blushed when Jaune cast his gaze into their direction.

He spotted the administrative office and made his way there. It was quite obvious due to the large sign labelled 'Administration' bolted to the wall just above the door. This would have been easier than Jaune originally thought it would be.

Jaune pushed past another group of students. About twenty feet from the door, Jaune noticed a young woman. She was heading for the admin office as well, carrying books and papers in her arms. Before she could get any closer, another student knocked the materials from her arms. She went down to retrieve the items, but nobody else offered to help. Jaune rushed over to assist the woman.

"Here let me help you with that," Jaune offered as he knelt down next to the woman. He wasn't looking for any reward for his actions. Merely being a gentleman like his father trained him to be. Anything else and Jaune would be getting a stern lecture at the very least if Nicholas found out. In the Arc household, chivalric virtues were taught to everybody but were idealised by the young males of the family. And Jaune was expected to uphold the idea of chivalry at all costs.

"Oh, U-um t-thanks," the woman stammered as she looked up at Jaune. Jaune felt himself freeze the moment she looked up at him. Her lilac eyes were absolutely mesmerising. Her golden-blonde hair was tied up into a wolf-tail. She was quite possibly the most beautiful woman Jaune had ever come across. The gears inside of Jaune's head had all but stopped turning as he stared back at her.

"Y-yeah! Your welcome," Jaune also stuttered before his brain returned to full functionality. He quickly began fumbling the papers and the books that had been dropped. One of their hands accidentally touched and Jaune quickly retrieved his as did the woman. Both teens blushed and tried to hide it.

Jaune picked up one of the papers and read the cover. It was a musical piece by Beethoven-his Violin Concerto in D Major Op. 61. Jaune had no idea what to make of it really. While Jaune insisted on the fact he wasn't a meathead, he could not read sheet music or any music for that matter. He knew the guitar, but all of that was improvised, and he only needed to understand the lyrics.

Jaune broke out of that line of thought and neatly stacked the rest of the papers. The woman slid them into the front of a textbook and picked up the rest of her books. The two teens stood up and brushed themselves off. The woman pulled the books close to her chest, covering up her generous bust with the texts.

"So, you're going to the admin office too," Jaune wondered as he pointed to the nearby door.

"U-um yeah," she squeaked while giving Jaune a nod. She was extremely nervous about something. Jaune had no idea what she had to be worried about given how fucking amazing she looked. Hopefully, Jaune could get to know her better. She was the classic really cute but shy girl archetype Jaune saw in those high school dramas his sisters totally forced him to watch and did not view them in secret.

"I'm Jaune by the way." He tried his best to give off the illusion of confidence. It was like most of his standard greetings but with a little less flair.

"I-I'm Yang." Why is she so anxious? Maybe Jaune was coming on too strong? She smiled, but it was shy and not like Jaune's. There was no confidence behind it.

Both students went into the main office. Jaune held the door open for Yang, and she quickly entered while trying not to meet Jaune's eyes. A secretary told them to sit down in the small waiting area just outside of a corridor. During the brief waiting period, Jaune took the time to look around the office.

There were a bunch of posters lining the walls. Standard motivational stuff, papers deterring suicide, or drug use facts. All pretty dull, and to be expected in what was still a high school. Jaune thought there would be something more refined in here, but there was a lack of the military posters Jaune was used to.

An older woman came from within the adjacent hallway. Her platinum blonde hair was tied up in a bun with two curled strands hanging on the sides of her head. She wore a white blouse and black riding pants with matching boots. The woman looked to be in her forties, and Jaune supposed she was the headmistress.

"Mr Arc, Ms Xiao Long. Please come with me," the woman asked for the teen's company.

She's a Xiao Long! From what Jaune knew, the Xiao Longs were a big military name in Vale like the Schnees in Atlas. An old family like Jaune's where everyone either joined the military or grew up to become legends in various fields. He remembered Nicholas mentioning a special forces operative by the name of Taiyang Xiao Long. Jaune wondered if he was related to Yang.

Both teens followed the woman to an office. The room was lined with wooden panels that you have seen in an archetypal lawyer's office on one of the police tv shows. In the centre of the room, a large wooden desk with two seats filled in most of the space. A small vase with a few plants inside sat on the table.

"I'm glad the two of you showed up at the same time. It would save me the trouble of having to wait for the other to show up," the woman began explaining. Jaune just assumed she was Goodwitch at this point. He didn't have anything else to go off of besides the fact she was important and had a nice office. "I'm assuming the two of you already introduced yourselves to each other?" Both teens nodded. "Good-good. Now the reason I asked you both here was due to a decision we recently came to at the academy. We have recently decided to pair students up as a sort of buddy system. Somebody that you will know and will be able to go to if you have any trouble or just need to talk to."

"So we've been partnered up," Jaune guessed and looked over to Yang. She seemed uncertain of the idea as well. "Can I ask what led to this idea?"

Goodwitch sighed and took a sip from a mug of coffee. "Before the rumour mill can misinform you. I will give you what I know." Jaune didn't like where this was going. The rumour mill was probably the most dangerous thing at his last high school. "Recently a student was murdered on school grounds. The police have reason to believe it was another student or possibly a faculty member. However, they have no suspects and only persons of interest at this moment. If any detectives interview you, please do your best to answer all of their questions with as much clarity as possible. And please try your best to ignore the rumours. It's only week two, and several fights have been started over this incident." Jaune could tell it was taking a toll on the woman. If the coffee pot haphazardly hidden in the back of the room and the bags under Goodwitch's eyes weren't any indicators.

"A-a student was m-murdered?" The colour drained from Yang's face as the reality of the situation finally hit her. She pulled her books even closer to her chest. Jaune would have instinctively tried to comfort her if he knew Yang any better, so it was better to hold off at the moment.

"Yes, Ms Xiao Long," Goodwitch replied. "However, you shouldn't be so worried. We have doubled security at the academy and have begun this buddy system as a way for you both to look out for each other. And we will do everything to ensure your safety."

"Ok," Yang nervously agreed.

...

"Jeez that was tense," Jaune quipped as he rubbed the back of his head. He and Yang were heading to their first classes. Yang hadn't spoken a word since they left the headmistress' office despite Jaune's attempts at conversation. She only kept her eyes pointed towards the floor.

They passed by several groups who all gave Jaune various glares. He was getting more of those now that he was seen walking around with Yang. A few girls turned away from them and started giggling about something with their friends.

That rumour mill Goodwitch mentioned. The wheel of the mill was turning and grinding out brand-new rumours about the pair. All high schools, especially ones with a bunch of rich, privileged kids, were prone to having these mechanisms spring up disrupting any sort of order there once was among the students. Most of the time those rumours were benign and would cause no harm to anybody. However, there were a few bits of gossip that caused major irreparable damage to someone's self-confidence or their reputation.

"Jaune," Yang began, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "You'll go along with this buddy system thing, right?" Jaune's brain had to play catch up. He had already agreed to go along with the buddy system in Goodwitch's office. It wasn't like Jaune to back out of something like this just because it wasn't required of him.

"Yeah! Of course, I will!" Yang seemed glad Jaune reassured her of his promise to go along with the buddy system. However childish the entire thing seemed Yang took comfort in knowing that there was somebody else watching out for her. "An Arc never goes back on his word!"

"Ok." She looked away from Jaune again trying not to meet his eyes.

"So how long have you been in Vale," Jaune continued the conversation now that he at least had her attention. He could use the rather lame excuse of being, "buddies," to get to know her better. "I just got here yesterday."

"U-um, I've been in Vale for about a week," Yang stammered in the beginning but was able to get the rest of it out. For Jaune, it was almost exhausting trying to have a full conversation with her. Even though he only knew her for a single day at this point. Maybe she just needed to warm up to him? "My parents were both stationed here in Vale. So my baby sister and I were brought with them."

"Your parents are military as well?" Yang nodded in response. "My dad was the garrison commander at Fort Blacklight. I was also the captain of the varsity football team too!" Jaune slid the part about his athletic record in there to try impressing her. Judging by her reaction, she didn't take the bait. "But what about you? Any sports?" Jaune turned the conversation back to her in the hopes of not talking about himself too much or losing her entirely.

"I-I didn't really play any sports back on Patch," Yang nervously responded to Jaune's inquiry. That narrowed down Jaune's list of what Yang did to get into Beacon. It was most likely academics or something involving the arts.

"Really? Have you ever thought about trying out for one of the teams? You'd probably be able to make varsity on any of the teams here." He was trying to be nice, but he meant every word of it. Jaune believed anybody could make the varsity level if they worked hard enough.

"D-don't say that," Yang quavered as her cheeks turned beet red. She was adorable when she blushed. Jaune couldn't help but snicker, and it caused her face to grow even darker.

...

Jaune had gone to a few of his classes so far today. His day was mostly him being introduced to the other students and having to sit through a lecture. Why did somebody schedule his calculus two class at eight o'clock in the morning? It was bad enough when Jaune had to begin waking up at five a.m. so he could go to practice when the season started, but having to sit through a lecture an hour after he got busting his ass on a field was not something he was looking forward to.

Jaune was able to breeze through four of his eight classes for far today. Yang was in two of them so far, which was good because he knew somebody and could sit next to them. He wouldn't have to deal with the awkwardness of having to find a seat next to somebody he didn't know.

Now Jaune was heading off to lunch. Supposedly the cafeteria at Beacon served high-quality foods and not the crap the Blacklight Preparatory Academy served. Luckily, Jaune met the captain of the football team already and just needed to find him. He would be getting introduced to most of the team at their usual spot.

"Hey, Jaune," Yang meekly called out to him. Jaune turned around and found her standing behind him with a small bag in her hands. "Can I sit with you? I-I don't know anybody else."

"Uhh, Yeah, sure!" Jaune showed her the way to that table where the team was supposed to sit.

The made their way to a large table situated in the centre of the mess hall. Most of the kids at this table wore the standard football player haircut. Undercuts, fades, man-buns, or fauxhawks of some kind were the dominating feature. So Jaune fit in pretty well with the more unusual ways people did their hair among this group.

"Yo, everybody!" A tall male stood up in the centre of the table. He was a faunus with slicked-back red and black hair with two horns sticking out of the top. Jaune met him earlier in one of his classes. The captain of the football team, Adam Taurus. "This is the new guy I was talking about. Jaune Arc! He's going to be our starting striker!" Jaune gave Adam a fist bump before the Captain could introduce the rest of the team. But Adam noticed the blonde woman standing behind Jaune.

"And who is this," Adam gestured to Yang who gave a shy wave to the rest of the crowd. A few of the girls at the table waved back as well.

"Oh, Yeah! This is Yang," Jaune introduced his fellow blonde. "We got paired up in that buddy system thing or whatever it is." A few of the students started giggling the moment the buddy system was mentioned.

"Ok, Jaune, and Yang." Adam pressed his hands together and pointed at the both of them. "First, the buddy system is complete bullshit. Second, just stick with the football players and avoid Cardin and his friends. That's pretty much all you need to know right now. But let's get back to the team."

Adam turned around and walked back over to his friends. A blue-haired male with tanned skin was the first to stand up. A short white-haired girl also stood. "This is Neptune Vasilias, our starting left midfielder. And his girlfriend Weiss Schnee who's our starting sweeper on the women's football team." Neptune gave Jaune a mock salute and sat back down with Weiss. Adam moved over to two other students. A tall green-haired boy with tanned skin and a shorter male with fair skin and red hair. "Sage Ayana and Scarlet David, our defensive midfielders. Also a couple." Adam kept going down the line. A tall blonde faunus and shorter blonde women were up next. "Sun Wukong our right midfielder and Dew Gayl our stopper." Next up were a massive blonde and a slightly shorter redhead. "Ivon Steele our goalie and co-captain, and Pyrrha Nikos, our women's striker and co-captain of the women's football team." Adam made his way through several more people rounding out the table entirely except for one last person. "And finally my favourite person out of all these losers is, Blake Belladonna. Our women's football captain and my girlfriend." He sat down next to Blake and gave her a peck on the cheek.

The football players made space for Yang and Jaune so they could sit down. A faunus woman sitting next to Yang immediately started asking about her hair. Jaune noticed how Yang sort of retreated into her shell but was a bit more comfortable after the first few moments.

"Oi, Jaune," a black-haired boy from across the table called out to him. He was Ozwald or Oz if Jaune remembered correctly. "You've got some big shoes to fill in. Our last striker, Dante, graduated last year and went to the military academy. So we expect nothing but the best from you."

"Lay off him Oz," Adam ordered. The faunus leaned forward and whispered to Jaune. "He's still salty about us getting our ass' handed to us last year by your team. Take us to the finals this year, and he'll forget about it."

Jaune wasn't going to do anything less. If he could take his team to the finals this year and maybe to the national championships, a few more football scholarships could be up for the taking.

Hopefully, you guys enjoyed this. I know I did! The next chapter of You've Got to Use Silver will be out by the end of next week. I may have to take a short hiatus after next week to get the last of my shit done for college so I can end this semester. Then I will be on winter break and will have more time to write until school starts back up.

I modelled the relationship between Jaune and his older sister after myself and my younger brother. So most of our dialogue involves masterbation jokes or banter between the two of us.
