Jude Adams Foster is 17 years old in his junior year at Anchor beach. He has had a rough time in high school after he came out, being frequently bullied by Jeremy but with the support of his best friends (Taylor and Brian) he is able to feel happy being who he is.
It was a Wednesday at school when Mrs. Espen reminded everyone that the project that was assigned 2 weeks ago would be due on Friday and of course being best friends Jude and Brian were partners. "So are you sure you will have your part of the project by tomorrow? We cannot fail this project" Jude said a little doubtful.
"Of course ill have it, after baseball practice ill finish it" Brian said.
"Ok don't let me down"
"I won't"
After school Jude went home to finish his part of the project. He was concerned that Brian wouldn't finish his part since it wasn't the first time Brian let him down with school work. He was also aware that since Taylor and Brian were dating she could be a bit of a distraction.
The next day Jude went to school a little earlier than usual to make sure everything was good with his work when he saw Brian walk through the doors.
"Hey where is your work I need to review it to make sure we didn't make any mistakes" Jude said
"Oh the project, I'm so sorry I totally forgot I had help a friend out, Connor you might know him, he's having a bad time"
"What's wrong with him?'
Before Brian could say anything they saw Connor walk towards them
"hey Brian so you want a rematch on the video games we were playing yesterday I totally kicked your ass"
Brian's face blushed of embarrassment and Jude couldn't believe it, he was so pissed he walked away before Brian could explain what happened.
At lunch Brian caught up with Jude
"hey I'm really sorry about the project it's just that I went to Connors house to see why he skipped baseball practice and he convinced me to play with him, he's like addicted to video games" Brian said with disappointment in his eyes
"I'm really sorry and I can't say no to him we've been best friends since kindergarten and he always has his way"
Jude stayed silent listening to his friend apologize and feeling a little bad for him when he finally said something
"You know you are not helping your grades playing video games every time your friend wants you to"
"I know and the bad thing is that he is coming over today to play more games and I just couldn't say no" Brian said "I know why don't you come with me and maybe we can get him of the console and go to the library or something"
"I don't know if that would be a good idea I don't even know him"
"that's perfect he can't convince you the way he can convince me, so its set then I'll see you at my place around 6" Brian said as the bell rang "see you later"
Jude didn't like the idea of hanging out with them specially since he didn't know Connor and thought he was a bad influence but something inside him made him smile at the thought of seeing him again.
