Ash… there's something I want to ask you. Do you want to know why I disobey you so? Do you want to know why I prefer not to share my power with you? You think it's because I am poorly trained. That's what they all say. But if only they could see… or can they see it? Do they just not realize that I see it very clearly?

It all started when I evolved in to Charizard. All of a sudden, I had this feeling. A feeling I had never seen before.

I obeyed you when I was younger. Why? Because you said that we were friends. Because you took me in and fed me, you took care of me, you saved me from dying; from having the orange flame on my tail going out when I was just a Charmander. When you said we were friends, and you said you loved all of your Pokemon, I believed you.

Then, when I became a Charizard, I just realized this, all of a sudden. Am I your friend? Or am I just your slave? You make me battle, and you watch me get hurt. For what? You get cash, and every time you win a battle, you jump up and down in joy, and you are happy with me when I win. But if I lose, it seems that you are upset with me. Is this the only reason you like us? Because we win you these shiny little things called badges and we get you one step closer to becoming a 'Pokemon Master'?

I just don't understand. You hate Pokemon, you hate them, unless they battle for you… and win. Out of nowhere, you'll just attack a wild Pokemon, and leave it out in the wilderness, wounded and hurt to be on its own. And other trainer's Pokemon? You have me hurt them, too.

I bet if I weren't your Pokemon, you would have me attacked, too.

I feel as if I am the only one out there who feels this way. Nobody else realizes. Nobody else cares about me. Do humans understand? No. Do Pokemon understand? They might, but I fear they won't. So Ash, please, tell me if this 'friends' thing is real. Or if I am just your slave, and you are my master. Please, Ash…

I am begging you… please… why is it meant to be this way? Sure, you saved me, fed me, surrounded me with other friends, but for what purpose? To be my friend? Or just so you can be the Pokemon Master? Ash, I need to know. I need to.

Please, Ash, I am begging you…

This is something that took me fifteen minutes to write. I could have done it with any Pokemon, but I chose Charizard for a few reasons. First of all, he is my favorite Pokemon, and second of all, since Charizard doesn't listen to anything Ash says, I thought it would be interesting to come up with an explanation for that.
