Black Angel
Chapter One: Stand Back
"Hello young lady. Ye be looking for a place to spend the night?" asked the bartender.
"No thank you," said Kari. "I'm just here to pick up a few things."
"O.K. What do ye need?" said the bartender.
"Two loaves of bread and about fifteen apples," Kari replied.
"That'll be about thirty five 'ill," he said.
"Here."
"'Coarse I might give ya' more and make it cheaper," said the bartender, "for a different kind-o-fee."
"No thank you," Kari said in disgust.
"But Miss-"
"STAND BACK!" Kari yelled, pointing a staff to his neck.
"Y-y-Yes Ma'am." he whimpered.
A couple hours later
"Damn those kind of people always piss me off trying to take advantage of me! All of 'em deserve to go to Hell." veered Kari.
"Do they?" asked Valefor patiently. "Do you, a summoner, a sign of hope, have any right to say that? They may be bad people, yes. But sister, do they really deserve to go to Hell? I may be an aeon with the others, but we are wiser in years. Do you agree, Kari?"
"Yes. I'm sorry my friend. You and I have been together forever. You are my guardian so I trust you with my life and I trust you to answer my questions truthfully," said Kari slowly.
"Of coarse I shall be here for you when you need my assistance," Valefor said.
"We must make it to Besaid," said Kari. "before the souls turn into fiends."
"Of coarse," Valefor said.
"Then let us go," said Kari.
"Yes," Valefor said as they lifted off, heading towards Besaid.
Later
"Thank you Lady Summoner. We would not want our children hating us," said the chief of Besaid.
"Of coarse," said Kari.
She started to do the dance her mother, Yuna, had told her that would send souls to heaven. Yuna was one of the most famous summoners. Her grandfather too; Lord Braska. But her father she never knew.
"He died a long time ago," her mother used to say. But Kari believed there was much more to the story. How absurd for her mother to keep things from her! Why should she?
Kari left Besaid at nightfall thinking that the monsters should be asleep.
"You shall die tonight," hissed a basilisk.
"I summon thee Ifrit!" yelled Kari.
She swung her staff around in three circles. A ball of fire appeared, and then went into the ground. Kari keeled on the ground. (Just how her mother used to summon Ifrit) Ifrit popped out of the ground, surrounded by a ball of fire and caught Kari. He set her down nicely.
"Meteor strike!" yelled Kari, pointing her staff at the creature.
Ifrit's mouth opened and a ball of fire formed and then he hit the ball with his paw and destroyed the basilisk
