COURTEOUS LOVE
Courteous love, which is also known as forbidden love is the love found between a queen and her knights. There is admiration and protectiveness from afar but never up close. Courteous love is gallant and accepted but once acted upon, it turns into forbidden love.
Chapter 1 – The Wager
It was a cold winter night and the fire crackled in the fireplace. Two people sat cuddled together in the sofa couch. They hid beneath the blankets to keep warm while close to each other.
"I don't think I can go on like this any longer." He stroked her hair as he said this and he breathed in her perfume that he loved to no end.
She shifted her head on his shoulder to look up at him. "No, you have to. It's the only way we can be together. I explained this to you a million times," she leaned up and gave him a kiss on his chin.
He sighed as her lips touches his skin, he always loved the feel of her lips, and they felt so soft that you just wanted to give it a little bit. "Can you please explain it again to me? It always becomes a little easier when I hear it again."
She closed her eyes, took a deep breath and finally answered him. "It's going to be complicated remember? No one will accept our relationship. I gave you a chance once… but you wasted it. You walked away. I'm with someone else now, who if you don't remember, is also your friend."
"Why are you with me then if you're with my friend? I know you like him more than you ever did me because you waited for him. You cry for him when you fight and you worry about him all the time. What are you doing with me here right now?" He said this with a little resentment and jealousy. He wanted her all to himself but deep down inside he knew that would never happen. He accepted it a long time ago but that was before all of this happened. He never thought she would give him another chance to show her how much he regrets not giving her a chance. He took her for granted but now he wants to make it up to her.
"Even after everything that happened, in the end I still really did like you back then. There were moments wherein I imagined what it would be like to be with you, and when you started showing interest in me again like how you did before, I couldn't resist and pass up this chance. Although I know this is wrong… I think I'm willing to take the risk with you."
"You think? Well maybe I can change your mind about that." He cupped her chin to lift her head and he leaned down to give her a slow and soft kiss. He pulled back, looked straight into her warm brown eyes and gave her a small smile. "How was that to change your mind, Hermione?"
She gave him his sweetest smile and said, "I want to take this risk with you, Draco." She leaned up and caught his lips once again.
End of Chapter 1
This chapter is called "The Wager" because it is the risk that each of them take with one another. They chose to wage what they felt for each other despite the consequences. It is better to make a decision and take the risk than regret it later on. I know it's very short but it was more of a teaser. I hope you guys like the chapter! Comments are very much welcome.
