CHAPTER ONE
"DAMMIT!" I said as my gameboy ran out of power. "They just don't make them like they used to." I say. "Ok, just let me go get some batteries", not noticing the faint black and white image on the plastic screen. "Ok, I'm back. These should hold you for what.. half an hour?" Normally they last for days, but not with me. "Alright, Elite Four, here I come!" I smile as I speed through the 4 rooms, not noticing the blinking battery light. "Alright 'Champion' lets see what you've got." Dragon types were no match for my Charizard's dragon fire, and slowly all but 1 was left. 'Lance is about to send out Dragonite! Will you switch pokemon?' "No way" I say, "Charizard's a walking flamethrower, I've got it in the bag." The screen fades to black, as the lead acid batteries run dry. "S***! So close!" This was the 4th time that's happened, in the SAME PLACE! "It really isn't my day, no use raging again. Sleep solves many problems, even being tired! "Ahhh, bed. Your so nice." I quickly fall into a deep sleep, completely oblivious to the blinking battery light.
"Sleep is under-rated," I whisper "I should do it more often." "Alright, lets get some batteries in this thing." As I go to the kitchen drawer, I reach my hand to the back, and find that there aren't any batteries left. "S***!", I yell, "MOM! WE'RE OUT OF BATTERIES AGAIN! I CAN'T LIVE LIKE THIS!" As my mom comes hurrying down the stairs, I see that she's just been fixing her hair. "Really Eric? I think you're old enough to get them yourself. You're 17 now, you can drive to the store and get them without me." Can't she see I was doing something? I put my shoes on and grab the keys to my Honda Civic and head out to the nearest WAL-MART. "Okay, batteries, batteries, batteries… That's what I'm here for. No distractions!" I tell myself as I walk around the store. As I round the corner, I see a silver flash in the corner of my eye, which could only be the battery aisle! "Oh! Look at this! There's a new brand… It's called.. Huh? It's in Japanese?" Wonder why? "It says it makes things come to life!" Hmm.. I'll try these ones. Looks like they work well." I head to the checkout, drive home, and run upstairs to find out what these things can do!
I smile, as light graces the dark screen."Finally, come to life? I don't know about that, but they sure work!" I say as I get back into Pokemon. "Back at the Champion. If this turns off again…" "Ah well, best not jinx it. Onto his last pokemon!" The screen suddenly explodes into color not even possible by the Gameboy, sucking him into the technicolor world of pocket monsters! "Owww, wait.. Why am I on the floor?" "How would I know, you were the one that fell down!" Lance says angrily. "Does this mean you forfeit?" he asks "No way, Charizard use..umm? Use umm...ahh?" "I'm waiting!" Lance says impatiently. "Charizard, you're good at this, use your best move!" A faint snoring sound can be heard "BWAHAHAHA" Lance laughs "Your pokemon fell asleep!" "That's a first! Oh well, better luck next time kiddo." I cringe as I get forcefully 'escorted' out of the facility. "Well, that's different."
