Painfully Oblivious

"What I just don't understand is why he shouted at me!" Rodney bellowed, slamming around the lab. "You take stupid risks offworld all the time and he doesn't yell at you!"

John rolled his eyes. "Well, of course not. He's not in love with me!"

Rodney blinked. "What?"

Horror struck realisation was filling John's face. "You did know?"

"No!"

Horror was being replaced by disbelief now. "But-"

"He's in love with me?" Rodney breathed in disbelief. "Why the hell didn't you tell me?" he yelled, voice gaining volume by the second.

John glared, exasperated. "Quite frankly, Rodney, we thought you already knew!"

Rodney waved his hands about violently. "Why?"

"Because it was so painfully obvious!" John bellowed back.

Rodney's hands flew in even more violent circles. "Again, why?"

John closed his mouth because really the man had a point.

"Well it does not matter because you know now Doctor McKay and I would very much suggest that you go and fix it." Teyla's voice was steely and Rodney just stared at her for a second before he took off out of the room.

A few seconds passed and he skidded back in.

"Fix what? The part where I'm so pathetically oblivious or the part where I implied that he was a disgrace to his whole profession?"

How Teyla kept a constant straight face John would never know as she replied seriously. "I would suggest both."

Rodney nodded and took off towards the infirmary again and John let his head fall back to hit against the wall. "How can someone so smart be so dumb?" he gritted out.

Teyla hid a smile.
