Disclaimer: I do not own Case closed or detective conan, Aoyama-sensei does.
AN: Just a one-shot that tickled my fancy when the idea struck me.
Conan Edogawa walked to the museum, a smirk present on his face. People who passed by him wondered why he seemed so happy. Conan was on his way to the Kaitou Kid heist tonight. He was a bit early, but there was a reason for that.
Conan had a dilemma, he knew who Kaitou was, no, who he REALLY was. Now you figured that would be a good thing, turn in an annoying thief and so forth, but it was not that easy. It appeared, from their last meeting, that he had a connection to the organization.
Now Conan had a problem, he had agreed to not turn the thief in; on the basis they would give each other information. Conan always kept his word, even if it was with an annoying thief. He did not think that Kaitou should get off that easy though.
So, he had settled on another method of revenge. He had planned it out already, and made sure that it would go off without a hitch. Which is why he was nearing the museum early.
He carried a backpack with him that clanked ominously. Conan made his way to the jewel case and looked it over. Tonight's target was a large sapphire called the Lover's Tear. Conan placed his backpack on the ground and opened it.
He pulled out a large, bulky item and set it near the case, right in the thief's path. He pushed a button on the contraption that turned the device on. Conan backed away from it and picked up his backpack from the ground.
He then left the museum quickly. He smirked the entire way home "This is going to be entertaining" he thought.

Kaitou Kid smirked his maniacal grin as he sprinted through the corridors of the museum. It had been quite easy to dodge the latest attempt at his capture. It had been a large net. Now, Nakamori and his men were stuck in it.
He sauntered through the door where the Lover's Tear was held. There was only one thing wrong with tonight's heist so far. There was no sign of Tantei-kun at all. He had seen neither soccer ball nor tranquilizer dart all night.
Something about that did not sit right with Kaitou, but he had more important things to deal with. He made it to the jewel case with no trouble. A quick code enter and he was in. He pulled the sapphire out and tucked it into his pocket.
He began walking away when he heard the whir of something electronic sputtering into life. Kaitou turned around cautiously to see what it was. He literally had to bite back a scream as he saw a fish mounted a wooden plaque not five feet from where he stood.
Its eye seemed to glitter evilly and its body was luminous as if haunted. Kaitou turned to run as fast as he could when the head lifted off its plaque, turning to look directly at him. Its mouth opened its gaping lips and burst into song.
Kaitou did not hear the song as he had screamed and jumped out the nearest, open window. He deployed his glider, intent on getting away from the terrifying visage as quickly as possible. At the sound of the thief's scream, all officers halted in their frantic chase of the thief.
Nakamori said "What the hell?" and turned to look out the window, just in time to see the fleeing thief, which started him on one of his infamous rants. One Conan Edogawa smiled about a block away from the museum, his goal complete.
