AN: I've been writing a lot of One-Shots recently, as they just seem so simple to move from my brain to the paper. I hope you enjoy this, it was just something I thought of as I have covered a variety of the aspects of the Kel/Dom pairing in my writings in the last few days (more will be uploaded once I go over them in the next few days), I just thought that this was one I had yet to cover. As every please read and review!
Disclaimer: none of the characters mentioned belong to me sadly.
My Darling,
I miss you, I wish I was with you now. Everything here makes me think of you, and all of the things we've done.
I just want to be by your side.
Kel sighed, looking at what she'd written so far, though there wasn't much to write. Nothing she had written would bring him back, so the writing seemed pointless; yet somehow it made her feel better, so she wrote. For some reason the act of writing these letters meant that she was less distracted throughout the day. She had this time to have nothing but him on her mind, and that meant she could push thoughts of him away for the rest of the time. She was a knight of the realm for Mithros' sake, she had responsibilities. That put aside this was her time so she continued.
Do you remember that night we sat out in the field behind the stables and watched those shooting stars? I said I had never seen anything more beautiful. You took me by surprise with your response. You know, I think you are the only person who has every truly seen me for me, and called me beautiful all the same. I'm going to remember that night for as long as I live.
You know you have my heart. Nothing will ever change that. I love you.
Your Kel.
She lifted up the piece of parchment, closing her eyes and gently pressing her lips to it.
"Am I to start getting jealous of even the parchment in this place?" a very familiar voice asked.
She gasped, turning she could see him leaning against her door. His dark blue tunic covered in drying mud, mischief dancing across his eyes. He was just as he had been on that night. The night he had proposed to her. He walked over to her, his sapphire eyes soft with love.
"You didn't tell me you were coming back," she accused.
"I would always come back to you Keladry," he reached out his hand to touch her cheek. The cheek that had been firm and toned, now soft and wrinkled. She smiled at his touch gazing into the eyes she so often found herself dreaming of.
He ran a calloused thumb across her cheekbone wiping away the tear that she was unaware was even there. He bent down and softly pressed his lips to hers. In that moment the realms second Lady Knight, Keladry of Mindelan, passed gently into the Black God's realm.
AN: I hope you enjoyed it! I always want to think that they grow old together, though I'm not sure. As much as I'd hate to admit it, it would most probably have been that one would be injured in battle and died. Though as lonely as it is I also think it would be heart-wrenchingly beautiful if they only ever loved each other.
When I started this I had wanted Dom to be alive and surprising her as she wrote to him, but it sort of ran away with me. Who knows maybe that little bit of a plot might turn up in a multi-part story I write!
Let me know what you thought!
