"Daddy! Daddy! Look!" Phillip said pulling at his dad's shirt, trying to get him to budge from the entrance into the living room.

"I'm coming, I'm coming," Alexander said laughing, "just give me a second to put my slippers on!"

"When Alexander was finally comfortable in his slippers, he allowed his son to pull him into the living room, where his beautiful wife stood, cake in hand!

"Happy Birthday!" Phillip and Eliza cheered! Hamilton picked his son up and went over to kiss his wife's cheek.

"I love my family," Hamilton said. He was happy.

"Alexander! This can't wait, it's your son's 9th birthday!"

"I'll be down in a minute!"

"Alexander!"

"Fine!"

Hamilton huffed down the stairs, where Phillip was sitting at the dining room table swinging his legs!

"Daddy! Daddy! Look!" Phillip said, pulling out a sheet of paper.

At the end of the show, Alexander was ecstatic.

"I really do have the best family in the world." He said.

III

"Dad! Dad! Come and look at this! Look!" Phillip was almost jumping up and down with excitement as he held the letter in his hands.

"What? Phillip? What is it!" Angelica said.

"I-I got in!"

"Alexander came down the stairs.

"Dad. I got in!"

A huge smile broke out on Alexander's face. "Congratulations! I am so proud of you Phillip."

"What's going on?" Eliza said, coming in from the backyard with John in tow.

"Phillip just got accepted into Columbia!" Alexander said.

"Phillip that's wonderful news!"

"Dad? When will I get to go to college?" 14 year old John asked.

"I don't even want to think about that." Eliza said. She went over to Phillip, "My little boy, you're all grown up."

IV

"Dad. Dad. Look, I want you and Mom to be happy okay?" Phillip said as he lay dying.

"Son-"

"Just-just tell me you'll be happy, you'll make this all work."

"I-"

"Promise me!"

Hamilton looked over at Eliza, they both had tears in their eyes.

"We promise," they said in unison.

"Good. I-I love you guys."

"We love you too Phillip."

With that, their son was gone.
