Author's Note: This is my first time writing a story at all and I will accept criticism but please remember I am new to this. Thanks
This is a Laley story where the roles are flipped. Nathan is Haley's best friend and Lucas is captain of the basketball team and the most popular guy in school
She looked up over the edge of her book, trying to hide that smile that wanted to creep up her face. He was trying hard to do better so he could play basketball again. I was helping him in three subjects, math, science, and history. My best friend Nathan was his little brother I loved him but Lucas was just so handsome. He glanced up and caught me staring.
"Like what you see?" Lucas asked.
All I wanted to say was yes but I knew it would kill my best friend. I smiled and said, "Get back to work we only have thirty minutes left." I had always been the ugly duckiling in my family, my sister Taylor eventually became a model and me, well I was just plain Haley James. I wasn't gorgeous like my friend Brooke, or even artist like my best friend Peyton. I was plain and boring, and I just wished that someone would finally notice me, make me feel visible for once in my life. Secretly I had a huge crush on Lucas, I mean who wouldn't?
"Haley? Earth to Haley." Lucas's voice came though and I looked up to see him waving a hand in my face.
"Sorry I just have a lot on my mind," I responded.
"It's ok, I just finish and I was hoping that you could check my answers to make sure that I understand it." Luke said.
"Oh of course I will." I replied. As I checked each of the problems I saw his improvement, it used to be he couldn't get a single problem right now he only made one or two mistakes on an assignment. I was extremely proud of him and smiled to show it. "Luke you are doing awesome." I stated happily.
"Really?" He asked. He looked so hopeful, I knew that when his grades rose he wouldn't ever wanted to see me again, but I kept the fantasy going that he would admit to liking me and then we would walk off into the sunset. I knew I was setting myself up for heartbreak but I just couldn't help it. He was so handsome and sweet and unlike any other guy that I had met except for the fact that he was a total player. She knew that he wasn't that type of guy he had a different girl in his bed every Friday. She glanced at the clock, it was time to leave wonderland she told herself.
"Come on Luke it's time to go." I said.
"I'll see you on Monday then ok?" Luke asked.
"Of course have a good weekend." I replied.
"Oh I will…" he stated.
