Calem. The champion of Kalos. A world famous PR star. As close as possible to an unbeatable opponent. The weaker trainers who couldn't beat the Four called him the ultimate trainer. The stronger ones who he himself defeated... also called him that. The sole reason the ultimate weapon did not wipe out the world, and defeated Lysandre. He had reunited several people with their pokemon.
And yet, after all this time of being friends, everything they had been through together... Shauna couldn't bring herself to knock on his door.
Her little crush on him when he first came to Vaniville town had since grown to a complete love for him. However, she had not acted quickly enough, and it seemed that Serena had stolen the spotlight. Those two were even until Calem took the title of champion from Diantha. It gave him unlimited training oppurtunities, allowing him to surpass all of their friends. In fact, he had even registered more Pokemon in the Pokedex than Trevor.
Serena, on the other hand had disappeared. After Calem caught Xerneas, Serena claimed the only way to beat him was to match him. She would catch Yveltal. Nobody had seen her after that, and they had assumed the worst.
Shauna was awoken by the creak of the door she was going to knock on. Her head snapped up, then back down to the ground, where Fletchling was hopping around. Shauna giggled and bent down. "Hey Fletchling." She rubbed the tiny bird's head. "Can you go get Calem for me?" Fletchling took off back inside the house. Moments later, Calem came to the door, rubbing his eyes.
"Hey you." Shauna gave Calem a playful punch in the arm. "You kept me waiting." Calem grinned and rubbed his forearm.
"Well, I might have responded had you knocked. Been a while, what'cha need?"
"Me and Tierno and Trevs are going to visit Aquacorde town, like on that first day. You coming with?"
Calem reached back and grabbed his bag, stepped out, and shut the door.
"I'll take that as a yes.
"Wow, absolutely nothing has changed, huh?" Calem remarked. The potions shop was still there, along with the pokeball store and the tables. Seated there were none other than Tierno and Trevor.
Shauna skipped over to the tables. "Hey guys, look who I brought!"
Trevor smiled. "Of course you would bring someone without telling us. Is it a new friend?" Tierno did a strange dance, as always.
"Aw yeah, I'm always happy to make a friend!" Shauna smiled at him.
"I think you'll have no trouble getting to know him." Shauna moved out of the way and brought Calem into sight. "It's-"
"Calem!" They both exclaimed.
"Heeey." Calem said simply. He was flooded with questions, but he held up a hand and they stopped.
"First, I have something to ask you."
