A/N: I wrote this for my Gip, because well, we were having an angst off. Needless to say, he won. Anyways, this is a nice change from the One Piece fandom. Hope you enjoy, and as always reviews are welcomed and appreciated!

I own nothing but the words.

Two words had nearly crushed the poor girl completely. Those lasting two words would be the death of the younger Rikku, and with it would be born a woman who unknowingly, suffered from heartbreak from day one.

"I'm leaving."

These were spoken to her from a man which whom she had grown quite attached to over the years. He had to be joking. Gippal couldn't leave Home…he couldn't just leave her to defend herself alone against Sin…That just wouldn't happen. Yet as he stood staring at her with one of of those serious looks of his, Rikku knew he wasn't lying.

The tears were there, but wouldn't be shown in fear that he'd think less of her as a fighter, and more of her as a weeping child. No, she had fought so hard to show him just how strong she was, and two words weren't going to break that. But they were coming, and fast, and if she didn't find an escape from this room it'd all come tumbling down.

"Rik…"

That had done it complete. The salty tears had fallen from her eyes, and more importantly his impression of her would probably change. He'd probably think of her as nothing more than just a weeping baby, upset over losing her favorite toy. This wasn't right. He just couldn't leave her like this. It. Wasn't.

Unannounced to her, he had outstretched a hand, ready to grasp her petite form into his arms, but her tantrum had changed that completely.

"This isn't fair, meanie! You can't just leave me here! What if you get hurt! What if you die! I won't be there to protect you! And, and!…" The tears were streaming now, making for a scene Rikku would rather forget. She continued with her rant, balling her hands into fists and throwing them against Gippal's chest. After several beatings, she had let out one last pump of her fist, her head dropping onto his chest in defeat. "It's not fair, Gippal…Don't leave me here…not now…not ever…"

She almost surprised herself with her words, but they had been said, and there was no taking them back. Things went silent between the two, and only the soft sobs from the woman were heard for a while, but just as she was about to pull away in defeat, two strong arms wrapped around her body and the weight of a head pressed against the top of hers.

Much to her disliking there was no 'okay I'll stay' or 'I'll never leave you' coming from his mouth next. His words were more than hurtful, and she'd rather not hear them at this point. "I have to, Rikku. To save Spira, you know. Gippal the Magnificent has to save the world."

And just like that, the warmth from his body had disappeared, as had that cocky grin, for what Rikku thought would be the last time in her life. She rubbed the tears off onto her sleeve as she stared at his retreating figure. As her hands clutched onto the scarf around her neck, she fought back another sob. Her own lingering two words passed her lips then, as she closed her swirling green pupils.

"Stay safe…"
