Vale was quiet and still, twinkling city lights visible from the highest point of Beacon. Team RWBY's dorm room was inhabited by half of the team, and the calm and ease of the night cloaked Blake and Yang in honeyed movements and murmured conversations.
Blake entangled her fingers in Yang's golden mane, pressing her ear to her girlfriend's heartbeat. The lifeblood that thrummed through Yang's veins was strong and filled Blake's head with a staccato drumbeat. The blonde had her arms wrapped around the Faunus girl's waist, and was resting her head on top of Blake's. Yang mouthed at Blake's violet-lined ears, feeling Blake shiver under her touch. They made slow revolutions throughout the empty dorm room, a quiet radio humming in the background.
Blake leaned back to meet Yang's lilac gaze, and pursed her lips gently.
Yang gazed down at Blake's amber eyes, glowing passionately with quiet strength. The darker flecks of caramel brown were smattered around her irises, and Yang brushed a slow kiss onto each of Blake's slowly closing eyelids.
"What is that you express in your eyes?" Yang quoted, smiling softly as she saw Blake recognize the familiar quote from her favorite book. "It seems to me more than all the print I have read in my life."
"You read Whitman for me?" Blake hummed happily, nuzzling into Yang's collar.
"I'd do anything for you." Yang chuckled, running her fingers through Blake's onyx locks.
Blake ran her fingertips down her girlfriend's sturdy forearms, stepping back and grazing her fingertips over Yang's palms. She felt goose bumps rise on Yang's arms, and Blake smiled coyly. The Faunus gravitated towards Yang once more, turning slowly so that her back was pressed against Yang's chest.
Yang's tanned arms cradled Blake, and Blake laced her fingers with her girlfriend's across her chest.
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine." Blake began to sing softly, her delicate voice drowning out the radio.
Yang giggled softly as the Faunus girl began to sing Yang's favorite song.
"You make me happy when skies are gray." Blake sang a little louder, and turned in Yang's arms to face her, running her fingers through her girlfriend's flaxen curls.
"You'll never know, dear, how much I love you." Blake held Yang, feeling the tendons and muscles in her back, and comforted by her warmth.
"Please don't take my sunshine away."
Blake brushed her lips against Yang's, tracing her tongue gently across Yang's bottom lip. Yang reciprocated immediately, their mouths working in amorous synchronization.
They pulled away, their heavy breaths mingling and settling in their skin.
"I love you, kitty."
"I love you more, sunshine."
