There's never been a man that could bring me down.
I've walked away from the toughest town.
But her last words tore me apart. Her goodbye hit me in the heart
Daryl looked down at the scarf that lay on the ground in the tombs of the prison
and his heart broke, then he noticed the Cherokee rose lying next to it. Her things
were lying just a few feet away from where the remains of T-Dog was being ate. Rick
dispatched the walker easily. Daryl bent over and picked up the scarf and placed it
in his pocket. His heart had just been torn in two. They had talked earlier
that day and she had told him that he was her hero. He had failed her. He ran as fast as he could to save her
along with Rick for Lori and Carl, but he had been too late. Maybe Rick would still
find his loved ones.
Her good bye hit me in the heart
Brought me to knees like a shot from the dark
Her sweet love found its mark
Her good bye hit me in the heart
Daryl sat alone in the tombs that he had cleared eariler with Oscar and Carl. The walker down the way
clinking the door away. He needed to find her body or the walker that was her. He needed to make
sure that she had peace. Sophia had been locked in a barn for weeks just rotting. The thought
of her suffering made his stomach churn. She had loved him when everyone else still
treated him like a rough around the edges redneck that could turn at any minute. She had
been the first person to tell him he was a good man. The first to offer him real affection. She had loved
him and he had never said it to her. He hoped she knew. Tears threatened to fall from his eyes.
Her soft warm touch took me by surprise
I was blinded by the love in my eyes
The moment she left I felt the pain start
Her good bye hit me in the heart
Daryl rembered the day that he had been thrown from the horse, fell down the ravine and took
an arrow to the side and a bullet to the head. Carol had brought him supper and leaned down and
kissed his forehead. It was the first time he had felt something as warm and welcome in his life.
Daryl found him self blinded by the love he felt for the woman that he would have never met if
the dead had not started walking the only problem was she would never know it and he would always regret
not telling her. Her good-bye hit him in the heart.
