I shivered as I entered the old familiar home of the Collector. Ronan had been killed now by Peter Quill and the Gaurdians of the Galaxy on Xandar and with his death, I knew I had to return to my former master to at least explain my quite hasty revelation of feelings for him.
But Ronan was about to kill him! If I had not confessed my love for Taneleer then, he wouldn't have ever known. Immediately upon my accessing the collection room, I heard a sigh behind me. "Why have you come back?" Taneleer's voice echoed around me. I turned to see him standing by his vaults.
"Don't play games with me, Taneleer. You know why I came back. I promised you." I retorted.
He sighed. "I suppose you did promise me..."
"Ronan was killed by Peter Quill and the Gaurdians of the Galaxy. I escaped Xandar and came back to you. I still love you, Taneleer." I said softly.
Taneleer didn't seem to need more proof that I loved him because he quickly crossed the room to me and captured his lips with mine. I wrapped my arms around him as we kissed passionately.
As we broke apart, Taneleer shook his head. "I know you may love me, Madeleine..." He took a deep breath into his suffocating lungs, deprived from the furious kiss. "But I have many enemies. They will stop at nothing until they have everything I hold dear...the Collection...and you. I must keep you safe. You cannot be kept safe here."
I closed my eyes. "Taneleer, I already left you once. I'm not leaving again. I cannot lose you when I have just found you."
He rubbed his temples. "Madeleine, why must you be so stubborn? You know my last attendants disappointed me in the past. Carina and the others..." Taneleer sighed, pausing.
"I love you too much to care about what happens to me." I snapped.
"I CARE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU!" The Collector roared.
There was an excruciating silence between us before Taneleer cut it, a loud sigh streaming from his lungs.
"Please forgive me, Madeleine. I lost my temper. I apologize for screaming at you. It was not my intention to-" He reached for me but I flinched horribly away.
Taneleer sighed again. "It was not my intention to frighten you, Madeleine." He continued. "I realize that I love you very much, and you are more precious to ime than anything in my collection. I must protect you somehow."
He cupped my face and leaned in to kiss me, this time I nuzzled into the fur around his neck before locking lips with him. Taneleer deepened the kiss until it was so violent, we tore apart gasping for breath.
Taneleer puffed greatly, filling his lungs. He exhaled slowly, catching his breath. "You have captivated me beyond words, Madeleine."
"I love you, Taneleer Tivan." I whispered.
