Hey everyone. This story is for both the Holmes Mystery Challenge and the Amazing Women Challenge on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. For the Holmes Mystery challenge my prompt was the (object) Plate. For the Amazing Women Challenge I used the click of high heels on hard floor. I can totally see Draco pulling something like this as young kid. I hope you all enjoy Broken Plate.

The click of high heels on hard floors assailed my ears as I heard my mother's quick approach from the formal living room. I knew she would hear the crash as soon as it happened. It was stupid of me to think she wouldn't. I looked down at what had once been an ornate plate. One that grandmother Malfoy had given mother for a wedding present.

"Draco," my mother said in concern as she finally entered the room, "is everything alright in here?"

I looked down at the floor. If I told her about the plate she would ground me. Or give me some other punishment. I really wish that Blaise hadn't run as soon as the crash sounded. He'd have thought of a way out of this situation. I looked up at the expectant face my mother had turned on me.

I smiled up at her. "Yes, Mum," I said knowing my voice more than likely betrayed me.

"Draco, what have I told you about lying?"

I looked up at her and shuffled my feet. "Not to," I said quietly. I would never tell her that father had followed that up with an "unless you can get away with it.".

"Why are lying, my darling Draco?" she asked motioning me over to her.

"Blaise and I were playing with the ball in here," I told her. She didn't look surprised which kind of surprised me. "I thought that Blaise would catch the ball before it reach anything breakable so I kicked the ball towards him." I shuffled my feet again nervously.

"Go on, Draco," she prompted me.

"The ball went past Blaise and hit the plate that Grandmother Malfoy gave you for your wedding present when you married Daddy," I told her. "It fell down and broke." I started to cry at this. "I didn't mean to break it. Please don't tell Daddy."

She put her arms around me pulling me into a huge hug. "The plate is easily fix," she told me kissing my nose. "And Daddy doesn't have to know that it even left it's shelf. Alright?"

I nodded with a small smile forming on my face.

Mummy fixed the plate and placed it back on the shelf. "Now shall we adjourn to library and see what happens in that story you like to read?" she asked as she took my hand.

I nodded enthusiastically as I took her hand leading the way to the library and the Tales of Beadle the Bard.

I hope you all enjoyed Broken Plate.
