I wrote this over a year ago when i got hooked with the show but I kinda forgot typing it up until yesterday. One of my first R&I stories and I barely ooverwrote it, so any logical mistakes are as much mine as all the others are that you might find.
Set after I Kissed A Girl
"You're not my type."
Jane couldn't sleep. Maura's statement about her not being the blonde's type wouldn't leave her mind. There was something that told her Maura was lying. So Jane lay there watching her friend sleeping and wondered what really went through her mind earlier. She felt a bit awkward but they had to talk about this conversation. Right?
Placing her hand on Maura's upper arm Jane gently shook her friend.
"Maura...Are you awake?" She whispered but didn't get any reaction.
"Maura?" She tried again.
Still no reaction but Jane felt the sudden goosebumps under her fingers. She moved them over Maura's bare skin on her arms and even her face and she didn't miss the shivers that followed on the skin she touched. As she got a bit braver, Jane placed her hand on Maura's stomach.
Maura woke up from the sudden butterflies she felt running through her body but she wouldn't open her eyes quite yet. Jane, however, knew her friend wasn't sleeping anymore. Her breathing had changed and she could see Maura's pupils moving under her closed eyes. Smirking to herself, Jane slid her fingers under Maura's shirt to touch the bare skin there.
"Not your type, huh?" Jane grinned at Maura's reaction.
It wasn't fair. Maura couldn't help her body's reaction but there was no way denying her feelings now. She could surely think of a dozen other reasons as to why she was shivering under Jane's touch but none would do. Jane knew better.
"You're such a horrible liar, Maura..."
"Jane..." Maura breathed out and eventually opened her eyes, staring straight into Jane's.
"What do you want?"
Before she could think about it again, the words had already left her mouth and there was no taking them back. Jane's smirk grew even wider than it had already been.
"The truth. You lied when you said I wasn't your type. I wanna hear you say the words."
"I didn't lie. In fact, I can't lie, the one time I tried I fainted... You want to know the whole truth? You aren't my type."
"But..?"
"But...I'm extremely attracted to you."
Jane's smirk faded and she made her victory smile instead. She had known it! She felt like she was gonna explode from the happiness.
"Sooo, you wanna go out for a date with me?"
"not now I hope." Maura said more serious than she had intended.
"Not now, silly." Jane laughed, "How about we make the next Friday evening our date night?"
"Hmm...Why not, I think I'd like that."
"And would you like that, too?" Jane asked, leaning in closer and smiling like hell.
Maura, realizing what the brunette was up to, smiled as well and leaned in to close the distance between them.
Their kiss was soft and gentle and when they parted seconds later another one followed. And another one. And another one.
"We should sleep now. I wouldn't want us to be too tired tomorrow." Maura smiled, brushing some hair out of Jane's face and behind her ear.
"Alright, Doc."
I don't like the end very much to be honest but it wasn't completely finished and I had lost track of the fic so this is not my best ever..,
