Hisoka hated crowds but allowed Tsuzuki to drag him to the market anyway, hoping to keep his smile alive for just a little longer. Later they'd head back to the office and continue with their work. Tsuzuki would remember Muraki and his smile would dim, taken over by thoughts of innocents lost and revelations of inhuman blood. It was inevitable, but Hisoka would push it back for just a little longer.

Tsuzuki indulged in his favourite pass-time of eating and Hisoka watched bemused as he went from stall-to-stall, buying cakes and fruits showing his delight for the world to see. After the tenth time of refusing food Hisoka caved in and accepted an orange, peeling the skin and complaining all the while that Tsuzuki wasn't his mother and he could feed himself. Tsuzuki just smiled and told him to eat it all. He did, savouring the tangy flavour and knowing that his fingers would taste and smell of citrus for a while yet, a reminder of their day out.

At a flower stall Tsuzuki was in his element, pointing out his favourites and which ones he grew in his garden. The stall owner was so charmed by him that she sold Tsuzuki a bouquet of daisies at under half the normal price, and Hisoka marvelled yet again at how his friendly nature drew people in. He had a way with people that Hisoka knew he'd never have, but he was glad for it. It had allowed him to love again, after all, something which he'd never thought possible.

A few times they lost each other in the crowd but never for long. Each time Tsuzuki came back with a smile and an outstretched hand, ready to take Hisoka back to his side where he belonged. Hisoka hoped he could stay there forever.
