From the author: Yay, a new fandom and I am dipping my toes in it. Comments are very welcome.

See the thing is, Rodney didn't know anymore. The sun had set hours ago but he hadn't moved. He wanted to move, but the overwhelming pain didn't let him. His mind kept screaming at him: 'You killed Carson! You killed your best friend!' He wasn't stupid and knew that it wasn't his fault, but still, he could have done something.

There where footsteps coming towards him and a hand landed on his shoulder. "It's way past the middle of the night." Sheppard's voice said. "I brought you a blanket and some beer." He sat down on the edge of the pier, huddled in his own blanket while opening a beer. McKay was not in a talking mood and he was happy that Sheppard doesn't even try to start a conversation. They just sat there and sipped their beers. They finish their six pack and McKay shivered, he is getting cold and the blanket Sheppard provided isn't enough to keep him warm anymore.

Sheppard just stands up, grabs Rodney's arm and drags him back towards the city. They walked together, liked they had walked so many times before but there was something more happening at this moment. There was this big thing hanging between them and it was crushing Rodney.

"If I only had..." he starts but John cuts him off. "Don't." he says as he continues to walk. "Just don't okay?" They finally reach their quarters and Sheppard mentally opens his door, pushing Rodney inside. It shouldn't have been normal for them to find comfort in each other warmth, but it helped them get trough the night. Rodney turned around "my bed is bigger." he states and from the corner of his eye he sees Sheppard grab some sweatpants.

See the thing is, they are in a different galaxy and the rules of earth don't apply anymore. People find comfort and warmth in each other. It works, so no body.

Not long after that he felt the comforting warmth and weight of Sheppard's body curl around his own. It wasn't much but right now it was enough for Rodney to shrug off most of it's grief and finally fall asleep.

Sheppard wakes up halfway trough the night. McKay's body is shaking and there is a sobbing sound. Sheppard pretends to be asleep as he holds Rodney, comforting the best he can, he knows.

Rodney is gone the next morning but there is a cup of coffee on his desk and things seem a little lighter. Which gives his just enough energy to start an other day.
