I I'm horrible at starting off stories. But this is it. Kind of a walking dead/hunger games smashup. Should I keep going or call it off? Ideas, suggestions, etc would be amazing. Thanks. ...

Waking up in weird places wasn't unusual to some of the people strewn across the land. But for the others it was utterly terrifying. No one knew how they had gotten there, but they were sure nothing good was going to come from it. Each was awake now, some wondering around looking for someone, or anyone they knew. At least a clue of where they were or even why? It was quiet, too quiet and the sun was blinding until all it once the sky went dark. Every head turned towards the sky to see a list of names, each one belonging to the persons in the woods and each one bearing a picture under their name.

"Congratulations! Each of you have been chosen to take part in a very important study!" The voice was loud, and unfamiliar to everyone. Even when the names faded and the pictures left with them and the man's face appeared in their place. The man grinned wide. "You are all in a chamber, the world around you is as real as you are. However this chamber will explode in five days, killing everyone in it." The voice was grim, and those watching from the ground below couldn't help but shiver as he spoke, a few even cried. "But do not lose hope, one of you will survive!" He spoke again, his voice returning some joy to it. "All you have to do, is be the last man, or woman standing..." Even if they were miles apart, each could swear they heard someone else besides themselves gasp in shock. "It's true! See, this world is cruel and ever changing. There are things coming, things we are not yet ready for. We need a fine man or woman to help us in this battle against the unknown! So do your country proud and win! Be honored! You each have a special talent worthy to assist in the oncoming battle. But we will only accept the very best. So, win! Win for your family, win for you country! Win, for your life."

The image on the screen vanished, and once again the names returned. "Each name is a person in the chamber with you. You might even know some of these people, friends, neighbors, lovers? In this oncoming war you can't have emotions, attachments. So best to lose them now. Kill or be killed people. You have five days." The voice faded away, and the names flashed.

Five men, and five women.

Rick Grimes. Glenn Rhee. Shane Walsh. Daryl Dixon. Phillip Blake.
Lori Grimes. Andrea Holden. Carol Peletier. Maggie Green. Michonne.

Some names looked familiar, especially to the husband and wife lost in the chamber. Others, no one knew but didn't look forward to finding out about. All they knew was, this was real.
