The view was breathtaking, looking over the people he would be guiding in the future. Allowing his grin to grow furthermore, Minato Namikaze waved at the village audience. He stood there for a few moments, moving his head from side to side in a sign to let the village know he appreciated them, when he felt a soft caress on the back of his still hand.
"How does it feel, Minato?" Kushina asked softly, wrapping her fingers around his hands. The grin minimized into a soft smile. He turned his head to the side, taking in his wife laying her head of red hair on his shoulder, ignorance of the spectators . "How does it feel to be Hokage now?"
Minato took a moment to seriously think his answer. It had been his dream to become Hokage, but that's just it; he had always dreamt of it. Now to actually be at the position he had longed for, he was expectedly at a lack of words. Count on Kushina to urge him into an immediate soul searching.
But he took her seriously; closing his eyes and letting the clatter of the crowd below them swoop into his hearing sense, he concentrated on Kushina's close proximity, her radiant aura which encouraged his thinking. The sanguinity overwhelmed him in a good way, bringing up various thoughts and memories of the journey he took to reach here.
Then he found his answer.
"I feel thankful." He said.
Kushina blinked at this. "Huh? That's all?"
He shook his head. "Of course not. I feel happiness, accomplishment, satisfaction, among other things, but above all else, I'm thankful." He turned Kushina towards him, catching her by surprise as he loosely embraced her, wrapping his arms protectively around her waist. "I'm thankful for all the people who brought me to this point: my parent and family; my classmates and teammates; my sensei, in particular Master Jiraiya; the Hokage…
"And most of all you."
So much words with so much meaning behind them; Kushina felt her face turn red, feeling incredibly flattered for some odd reason, that she turned her head away in embarrassment. "Like, what makes you say that?" It wasn't odd for Minato to blandish her, but for her to be held in such a high extent… "I didn't do that much…"
Minato chuckled at her obvious flurry. "Of course you did." His fingers began to rubbed her gently, caressing her in an endearing manner. "Because of you, I've become stronger. Your seals allowed me to develop so many skills I can now use to defend the village." He leaned forward so his nose would gently nudge hers. "So I can defend you."
The blush on Kushina's face intensified. "You're silly." Nevertheless, she reached up and shyly touched his face.
"Really." His blue eyes met her violet ones as one hand snaked to the front and patted her growing belly. "We both worked together and made so much. Lets continue our work and prepare for the future."
He closed the distance between the two, man and wife grazing each others lips as the Leaf Village cheered on in the background.
