Lachrymose Heavens

She loved flowers. Pink flowers, purple flowers and especially those sky blue flowers that reminded her of his eyes.

She grew flowers in the abandoned church. She hadn't been visiting the church for a year, which is three years after he left. He's been gone, without a damn trace for four years. The time she had spent with him had been a wonderful dream, and now she was living in a monotonous nightmare; slowly, painfully dying.

But today, she found herself sitting on the worn wooden floorboards of the old church, staring at the golden flowers, wondering how they were still alive. The flowers called out to her in quiet voices of agony, crying out how they missed her.

The flowers always told her what was going on. That was part of why she never came to the church anymore. The flowers delivered too many painful messages.

Suddenly, it started to rain through the hole in the roof that he made. This whole place; her whole life held too many memories of him. The flowers were screaming about his pain.

Zack, she thought, Zack is dying, four years after he went missing. So he was alive. But that wouldn't last long. He had been shot multiple times and was quickly bleeding out.

The image of his death would be forever engraved; burned into her mind: His face pale and blood streaked. His bright azure eyes steadily dulling and struggling to stay open. His jet black hair soaked from the rain and his own blood. The very same rain that was pouring down on him mingled with her tears.

And he couldn't see her tears, or hear her screams telling him to hang on.

He was lying on the ground, slowly, painfully dying. Much like Aerith. He couldn't think straight, but there were vague thoughts about Cloud, about Angeal and about Aerith… He was dying, leaving Cloud and Aerith, but joining Angeal.

As he closed his eyes, he could faintly hear the screams of a girl, telling him to hang on. But it was too late for that now.
