This story was a prompt from "anon" based on the quote that is mentioned in the story.
She was lying on her bed facing the wall next to her. Her eyes roamed over the pictures there. Fotographs, band covers, landscapes, newspaper articles about the Bella's... But her eyes always came back to one picture.
Chloe had given it to her the other day. It was a foto of her and Chloe at the latest Treble's party combined with a postcard and a quote saying:
"A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart, and can sing it back to you, if you have forgotten the words."
She doesn't know why but that picture made her kind of sad and happy at the same time. She had been thinking a lot about Chloe in the past few days. There was something in the way she looked at Beca that she couldn't quite place.
She was her best friend and she had never let someone so close to her like she had Chloe, but she had the vague feeling that this friendship has come to a changing point.
They were close, there was no doubt, but Beca felt like Chloe's gaze had become more intense, like she was searching for something in Beca's eyes. Her touches more lingering, like she wanted to test how far she could go without Beca shaking her off.
And now here she was, lying in her bed, listening to the rain heavily tapping against her window thinking about her best friend in a way she should be thinking about her boyfriend. She heard footsteps on the stairs but she didn't need to look who it was because she already knew.
She should be right because she was surrounded by Chloe's familiar scent that made her feel like home when she felt her lying behind her on the bed. Softly she caressed Beca's back. "You've been so quite the whole day, is everything ok?" And she knew she was doomed, because Chloe always broke through every wall of Beca, no matter how high she built them.
And in this moment she couldn't handle all the thoughts in her head anymore and for the first time in years, she cried. Chloe wrapped her arms around her from behind, holding her tight whispering reassuring words in her hair.
"Sweety what's wrong? Talk to me"
"I don't wanna lose you " Beca managed to say through her tears. "Why would you lose me?" Chloe asked confused at the younger girls outburst. "Because of this" Beca said as she turned around pressing her lips to Chloe's.
Chloe didn't hesitate a second, kissing her back. The kiss tasted salty of Beca's tears, but there was something familiar in it, like it was the one and only thing in the world. Chloe broke the kiss leaning her forehead against Beca's.
"Look at me Beca" carefully she lifted her chin up to meet her steel blue eyes which were full of worries and a little fear. "Do you have any idea how long I wanted to do this" she gently asked. Beca shook her head slightly.
"What does this mean Chloe? Between us?" Beca rambled quietly. "It means I'm in love with you silly" and Chloe closed the small gap between them again pouring as much love and reassurance as possible in this kiss, to wipe the worries out of Beca's eyes.
Everything fell in it's place for Beca in this very moment. The lyrics from Emily's song popped up in her mind as she gave herself fully into the kiss.
" I'm not afraid when the rain won't stop, cause you light the way, you light the way. I got all I need when I got you and I. I look around me and see a sweet life. I'm stuck in the dark cause you're my flashlight, getting me, getting me through the night."
