"Why does she hate me?" James moaned once again, running his hands through his already messy hair.

Sirius Black sighed. "She doesn't hate you," he told his best friend, again.

"Sure seemed like she does to me," James grumbled. Sirius rolled his eyes and glanced over at Remus, his other mate and the reasonable one of the Marauders. Peter just did whatever Remus did; Sirius was to rash to think many things through; and James, well he'd been hung up on the same girl since third year.

"Maybe," Remus ventured, "it appears she hates you because she still sees the immature fifth year who always hexed her best friend."

"Snivellus deserved it," James muttered.

"That probably doesn't help your case, Prongs." Sirius knew James would resent the input, but he couldn't help himself. The four Marauders were once again spending the evening in the Gryffindor Common Room listening to James obsess over Lily Evens. Sirius was beginning to resent that girl. It was their seventh and final year at Hogwarts and they hadn't done anything memorable. This was supposed to be the year they left their mark! Sure, they were already living legends, but they could not be forgotten. This was the last time they could Solemnly Swear to Be Up To No Good before being pulled apart by life. But were they doing any of that? No. Everything was about Lily Evans and how James could possibly win her heart.

"Maybe you should quit trying so hard," Sirius finally sneered. "She turns you down your every advance, so retreat a little, ok mate?"

James just stared at him. "You've gone mental, Padfoot."

"He's got a point," Remus spoke up. "Besides there are better things to talk about," he added, earning himself a grateful grin from Sirius.

"Fine; I see how it is, mates." James flopped down in an armchair, utterly deflated. "So what are these 'better things' we can talk about?"

"How about Moony's love life?" Peter piped up.

Sirius raised his eyebrows. "Moony's got a love life?"

"No he doesn't," Remus answered, glaring at Peter.

"Oh yeah?" Peter challenged. "Then who was the cute Ravenclaw you were talking to in the library?"

James wolf-whistled. "Romance in the library. What's she like, huh?"

Remus sighed. "She's smart, funny and not my love life."

Sirius looked at him and then at Peter. "Was he blushing when he was talking to her?" Peter eagerly nodded. "Mate, she is so your love life. C'mon, spill. What's her name? When are you gonna ask her out?"

"Her name is Clarrissa and I'm not going to ask her out."

"Aww Moony, why not?" James looked at him expectantly.

"She'll hate me when she finds out."

Sirius sighed. "You say that about every girl. Eventually, you have to stop using that as an excuse to avoid putting yourself out there. If she's the right girl, she won't care."

"Thanks, Padfoot, but-"

"Or you could just not tell her," James cut him off.

"No!"

"Wrong thing to say mate," Sirius muttered.

"I will not lie in a relationship!"

"Technically, you're just omitting some of the truth," he argued.

"And I'll have to lie about where I go every month," Remus countered.

James huffed. "You're the one that insists it's always gonna be a problem."

"Remus," Sirius cut in before they started arguing. "Just ask her out; get to know her. Then you'll know how she'll react when you tell her."

He sighed. "I'll think about it," he finally agreed.

Sirius smirked. "Atta boy."

Alright, this is another one of those one-shots while I try to find inspiration for Drowning In Nothing. I might turn it from a one-shot to a couple chapters, but DIN is my focus right now. Please review anyway! Reviews are great! And maybe some suggestions for DIN if you've read it, too.
