Author's note: I really don't like "Alice in Wonderland" in general. The guy who wrote it was a nut job, druggie, child molester (yes, he was), so you can see why I hate it. I mean, really, who thinks of Marmalade when falling down a black hole?

But recently my friend bought the computer game American McGee's Alice (Rated M- mostly for violence) and it's VERY different from the fairy tale story we all grew up with. So after being obsessed with this game for many weeks and never finishing it myself (though I heard my friend made it to the last level claps) I decided to take off from the game and finish the story my way!!! So I hope you enjoy this very different Alice in Wonderland.

This first chapter takes place in Alice's manor.

Chapter 1:

The Fire

"We're late! We're late! We're very, very late!" Whispered a familiar voice. ten-year-old Alice grunted in her sleep and turned on her side. But the voice was persistent. "Alice! Wake up!" It yelled.

Alice shot up in bed and screamed. Flames engulfed her room! She squeezed her worn old stuffed rabbit in her arms before she jumped out of bed. She miraculously jumped over the licking flames and fled from her room, slamming the door behind her.

But no! Her memory book! The one she had kept all of her adventures in Wonderland safe from the world. Yet, she knew she could not go back.

"Mama! Papa!" She screamed through the smoke. Red hot flames snapped at her from every direction. "MAMA!!!!!! FATHER!!!!" and then she heard them.

"Alice! Alice! We're trapped!" Alice ran to the voice of her mother's from the parent's room. Planks of fallen wood from the ceiling had built up in front of their door, trapping them inside. No matter how Alice pushed or pulled, the door between her and her parents would not budge.

She could hear her mother's cry and her father comforting his wife. They had given up.

"Run Alice! Run!" Her father ordered. "Run before it's to late! RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Tears welled up in Alice's eyes as she squeezed her stuffed rabbit ever more and ran! She ran as fast as she could, though eventually the fire caught up to her and jumped at her heels and caught on her nightgown. She yelp as it dug into her, melting the skin, but she continued to run.

Down the corridors, down the side staircases and finally down the grand staircase of the manor. But where were all the maids and servants? Had they too perished or were they safely waiting outside. With each step, her skin burned, the flames lapped- climbing up her legs and with each step she was growing farther from her beloved parents.

She could see the grand doorway, and she fell into a sprint and with her last thought being "God save me" she leapt from the house fell into the cold white snow. She heard the perishing scream of her mother as the manor collapsed in fames. With that, Alice hugged her stuffed rabbit and fell into a deep sleep.
