"How's the kid?" Gojyo asks around his cigarette, sitting on a log beside the demon slayer. Hakkai smiles faintly at his companion, gazing thoughtfully. "He should be fine, but I am sure it was difficult for him to deal with everything that just happened," Hakkai says in motherly tone. "Looks who's talking…" Gojyo laughs nervously, cigarette held between his fingers, standing up his feet looking out into the open of the forest surrounding them.
"Gojyo…" Hakkai says hesitantly, staring at the ground and his feet.
The water sprite swings his head around, "What it is?"
"Thank you… For saving me from myself again…" Hakkai says softly, smiling inwardly.
"What are you talking about?" Gojyo answers calmly, sitting back down on the log, casually again. Hakkai hesitates and begins talking, "For having a dualistic nature of bringing joy and the next unthinkable brutal rage ..." he says pausing for a minute, "My capabilities of being able to consume so much wine, and it was my fault for not listening to you in the first place…"
"Look you saved the stupid monkey. It wouldn't be right to just leave him for dead…." The Kappa says, sighing deeply. "I stopped you, but you did what was right for protecting that families and children. But you let your rage got the best of you with or without my help." Gojyo answers, lacing his hands with Hakkai's keeping him stable. Hakkai glances down, linking his fingers with the water sprite.
"I guess ugliness comes in many shape or forms…"
Footnote:
1. In China and Japan, Shoki or Chung Kuei, a demon slayer. He is known for protecting families with male children, warding off demons. It was said that he took his own life in the imperial palace in front of the emperor, overcoming remorse. He was then given the highest honours, wrapped in green robes that usually reserved for the imperial clan. In gratitude, Shoki vowed to protect any rulers against evil demons.
2. In Greek, Dionysus is known as god of the vine. He invented wine and spreading the art of tending grapes. He is known for having a dualistic nature. One bringing joy and ecstasy and the other; a brutal, unthinking rage, which reflects the characteristics of wine nature (as well as, human nature). If Dionysus chooses, he can drive a man mad. Dionysus is one of the few gods who can bring a person from the underworld (i.e.: healing a person, bring them back to life.)
