Are you ready?"

"I am now," I heard her answer from inside.

She came out of our bedroom wearing a deep blue dress, her soft curls pinned up on her head in a messy bun.

I offered her my arm and she took it, drawing closer, closing the gap between us. Before I knew it, she had grabbed onto my tie – her nimble hands were like a vice – and pulled me toward her. Just as I leaned in for a kiss, she let out a laugh – a gentle, shimmering sound, like the tinkling of a bell. I would give anything just to be able to hear it once again… She covered her mouth with her hand (Why attempt to deprive us of the sweet music of your voice?), trying not to laugh. I stepped back and noticed that she, in a pair of high heels (with a designer with a name I wouldn't recognize, let alone be able to pronounce) with her tresses piled up high on her head, now stood taller than me.

She smiled her signature smile that no one else could replicate, lifted up her toned leg and hooked a finger in the counter of her right high heel. She let it drop haphazardly on the hardwood floor and repeated this with the other shoe.

"So... Where were we?"

I grinned and told her that we'd be late if we didn't hurry, but only after leaning down for a kiss.

A/N: A few vignettes I've worked on... They'll make sense in the end, but can be read as standalones...
