Ode to Lily

Not so long ago it seems to me,

I found the girl who was my dream

I was ten back then, she was a mere nine

From the first sight, she was utmost sublime

Her hair like fire, struck deep in my heart

Her eyes were so green, I never dared part

Being in with her was enough to amaze

Twas hard to escape the sweet lovely haze

We set off to a world of adventure

And took to a train because of a letter

We sorted soon, and we must separate

She despised me so for my strong utmost hate

I hated the man who stole her from me

So it seemed, I thought it was meant to be-

And then on the darkest of stormy nights

Came her death, and with it all strength for a fight

I wanted to join her, forever be gone

But I was forced to look after her son

As the years went by, long and empty

I saw the end and all epitomes

Before I must leave, I look to the green

And tell the young lad all that I have seen

Please do not judge me, and all my short days,

After all this time… always, yes, always.
