Genshiken: Probation
Chapter One: The Bleeding Heart and Gathering Apathics
As a condition for the club Genshiken on probation, the group members would have to help with other clubs. By assistance, it is meant that they would have to do the stupid task of filling out surveys, which were very popular at the moment because of the available members of Genshiken.
Madarame Harunobu, the current most senior member of the group, had an interview and examination and even a survey that they would use to make a bar, circle, and pie graph. He sat there, and immediately, the members of the Life Skills Assistance group detected a mustard stain on his jacket.
"Did you have something to eat before coming here?" a girl asked.
"What are you kidding?" Harunobu jumped up to his feet and showed the stain that was over his shoulder. "I would never eat anything in my authentic sweatshirt of the voice actress of Space Cadet Moon. I used to have in my room and framed it on my wall. But I guess that wearing it would be amusing."
"You find wearing a mustard-stained shirt from a voice actress on an anime, enjoyment?" The guy with the clip board said.
"It's a conversation piece," he answered.
"And how many conversations have you gotten?" the girl asked.
"This is actually the second one," he said. "This is what the store owner told me. 'Space Cadet Moon was a very popular series, and even got to across the ocean. This is the Canadian voice actress for the dubbed version.' It would be nice to be able to buy DVDs from North America, but there are regional codes so we cannot import better packaged and priced anime. Plus there are other issues that make DVDs completely unfair."
Ohno Kanako was filling out a survey for The Apathetic Club. There was no a pencil provided, or members in attendance to have solved her problem with the directions. She had decided to make her own survey with the posters on the wall. They had been up there before she attempted to get into the room; she had found that the whole room was filled with unopened boxes.
"First question," Kanako spoke and saw a poster with the caption: "Do only naturalists have natural talent?" She wrote down. "Well all living things have a natural talent, and that is to die. A person can die with a blind fold on; as for his passengers, they had to go through the effort of finding a person who would drive blindfolded." She laughed slightly, and then looked around the clean room.
Kosaka Makoto and Kasukabe Sazi were test subjects for the Couples Recovery Club. Sazi was secretly happy at the arrangement, but her boyfriend Sazi was too absorbed in his portal gaming device.
"Sorry that I am late," Ben Katz said.
"Kosaka wouldn't notice," Kasukabe said.
"Wait a moment," Ben said, "this man is under pressure right now."
"Well, I want him to pay more attention to me." She said. Ben grabbed the handheld console from Kosaka.
"I have a more challenge game for you," Ben said, "Hold your hands over the level of your heart."
So Kosaka did and raised them up over his shoulder.
"Kasukabe," Ben said, "I want you to make sure that your boyfriend keeps his hands above the level of his heart. How you monitor him is up to your own discretion."
This is going to be sweet," Kasukabe said.
