Disclaimer: Nope don't own; I just enjoy playing with it.

1st year

Lily Potter waited impatiently for class to end. The professor seemed to drone on and on. Finally though, the bell to announce lunch sounded.

As everyone scuffled around, trying to wake up, Lily bounced over to where her friends were standing in the doorway.

"Well, that has to be one of the most boring classes we have," Scorpius Malfoy drawled, making the other kids laugh.

Why can't I stop watching him? Lily wondered. It was true though; the rest of their classes weren't nearly as dull as History of Magic. They couldn't figure out why the class even existed.

Of course, Scorpius was just hanging out with her because he had no other friends (or that was his claim), and he was two years older than her to boot, but he understood every one of her friends' complaints.

Lily continued to watch as Scorpius ribbed one of her friends, not able to shake the feeling washing over her.

Later that evening in the Gryffindor common room, where Scorpius was laughing with some of the kids his age, Lily sat with her whole gaggle of relatives.

"Earth to Lily…"

"Huh?" Lily said, shaking herself out of her trance.

Rose shook her head. "Honey, you got it bad," was all she said, trying not to laugh at her cousin's confused look. She'd seen it about a mile away.

"Got what bad?" was heard across the room, causing every head just to turn to watch this interesting conversation.

Lily felt herself blush, but refused to back down. "Got what bad?" she asked again, even though she was almost positive she knew.

Rose looked around, noticing all the interested faces, and shook her head. It wasn't going to do to tell all of these people who had surely seen it anyway, what she suspected was a case of unrequited love.

Scorpius himself was interested in this conversation. He wasn't sure why, but the breath seemed to have hitched in his throat.

He had never realized but Lily was exceptionally beautiful, sitting with the firelight dancing on her red face.

As his friends continued to chat and rib each other, as the conversation before them came to an end, he couldn't take his eyes away. He wondered how her mouth would feel on… He shook himself.

He shouldn't have been thinking about that at all because she was his best friend's little sister. And he had always felt she needed protecting not love.

The note in her hands was shaking, not out of anguish but of laughter.

It couldn't be happening. He shouldn't have sent her the… expensive looking roses. How cliché was that? Why couldn't he have sent her something less conventional?

The school year had ended with little discord among the Weasley, Potter and Malfoy group.

She had been under lockdown since last week, however, when she had broken her curfew.

As she looked at the roses, a thought occurred to her and she had almost picked up her wand when a reminder caught her eye.

Stupid law; why did she have to wait till she turned seventeen before she could use magic outside school?

A/N: okay this was a spur of the moment, but don't worry I will finish it. It should have at least seven chapters though. Please bear with me as I sort out my thoughts for year two.
