A/N: Just a little warning: this story will contain some topics that might be hard for some to read.
This story continues right after the Christmas episode.
And thank you to me amazing partner in crime, Goldstar20, who's been helping me write this every step of the way!
She looks in the mirror and sighs. Quickly getting to work, she takes the concealer and begins applying it on her face, especially under her eyes covering the bags that were beginning to form. She's exhausted, both from the lack of sleep and from all the crying she did over the two week Christmas break.
Finn Hudson.
She feels the tears slowly forming and shakes her head. 'No Rachel. Don't think about him.' She gathers herself and looks in the mirror to put the finishing touches on her makeup. Gathering the stuff she would need to last the school day into her backpack, she makes her way down the stairs into the kitchen.
"Morning, pumpkin," Leroy greets, looking up from the newspaper he was reading to smile at his daughter.
Rachel leans over the counter and gives him a peck on the cheek. "Good morning Dad."
"Are you excited to go back to school Star?" Hiram asks, handing his daughter a protein shake while dropping a kiss on the crown of her head.
'Excited would not be the word for it' she thought to herself. "Yes daddy, I'm looking forward to Glee rehearsal and preparing for Regionals. "
"Just don't push yourself too hard okay pumpkin?"
Rachel glared at her dad. "Dad…"
"I know, I know. You don't need to be reminded, you're going to be fine, we don't have to worry. But we can't help to worry sweetheart, we wan-"
"Daddy, Dad, stop it. You know I'm going to fine."
"But sweet-"
She put her hand up effectively cutting her dad off and quickly finishes her shake. "Not another word from the two of you. You're both going to grow grey hairs with all that worrying!" She quickly kisses both fathers on the cheek. "Have a great day. And before you say anything, yes I will call one of you if I need anything. I promise."
"You just know us so well. Be careful." Hiram told her.
Rachel nods and walks out her house towards the hybrid parked on the driveway, quickly getting to school. The parking lot was already full of cars when se got there. She parks her car, and leans fully back on the seat, closing her eyes. She takes a deep breath, just trying to relax her racing heart. 'I can do this,' she chanted in her head as she gets out of the car, making her way towards the school. The hallway was already bustling with people. The Christmas decorations were taken down, the floors were newly waxed, and everything seems back to normal. She opens her locker and stares at the emptiness that now occupies its place. She shakes her head, ignoring the tightness in her chest, and slowly puts in her books into her locker.
"Rach."
Her eyes flies open in shock. She knew that voice; it's been haunting her dreams the past weeks. She grips the hold on her locker door tighter as she gets ready to turn around. "Finn," she softly says.
"I'm sorry," he whispers.
Rachel looks at him confused, " Sorry about what?" Then her eyes are covered and she feels it, the cold, wet substance. The red substance is on her face, all over her shirt and unto the floor. She looks at him in shock, the tears beginning to pool in her eyes.
"For that," he says walking away from her, slushie cup in hand, towards the group of football players who are laughing and pointing at her.
