First Dramione drabble. It came to me on impulse, like the usual. This, too, is disclaimed.

Warning: AU. Set in a modern school in London, not in Hogwarts.

It was late in the afternoon when Draco Malfoy entered the confines of the library to return a book he borrowed two days ago. It was silent and as expected, he could only see familiar faces of the graduating batch sitting in groups, studying as much as they can before the examination day.

He wasn't fond of studying in the library at all. He found it rather irritating when he'd hear pages being turned when he's that much riveted in a book. It was loud enough to make him lose concentration.

When he was about to cross the room towards the librarian's desk, his eyes caught sight of a very bushy-haired brunette surrounded by a dozen or so books, there were too many. She was writing on a green index card with her other hand on her chin, her elbow propped up on the table.

He held the book tighter and raked a hand through his blond hair, suppressing a sigh. Hermione Granger looked like she's beating herself with learning too much that he thought she might be aiming on memorizing the entire book!

One step.

She put her pen down and closed her eyes. She was muttering something to herself.

Second step.

It felt as though everything was in slow motion. Hermione brushed her hair with her fingers and twisted it to a bun, tucking it securely with a pin. It wasn't neatly done but she still looked pretty.

Sixth step and he was already standing in front of the table she was occupying.

"Granger," he called suddenly. She looked up with a stunned expression on her face. "Is this seat taken?"

She eyes the chair and shook her head, gathering her books in a pile to give space. He sat down and opened his book to a page where he obviously had already read.

The silence between them was awkward and it wasn't easy trying to make a conversation with her when she's that engrossed. He noticed she had already written a thick stack of index cards in different colors and he wouldn't be surprised if it would get thicker with the pace she's going.

He wondered where she stores that much information all in a day. She's the brightest in their batch and no one even dared to compete against her since it had been proved futile but still she studies with much motivation. He wanted to do something about it even if it'll only take a few hours.

So, he reached for a red index card. "Can I have this one, Granger?" She shrugged, "Go ahead."

She was scribbling more notes when that same blank index card he took was slid towards her. She stared at it for a while and looked at him. "I thought you wanted one."

He gestured a circular motion with his finger. "Flip it over."

She did as she was told and found that he had written something. She read it wordlessly.

Loosen up a bit. Coffee?

Hermione visibly brightened for a split second. She did not spare him a glance when she wrote something back as a reply. He saw her write Okay but then she crossed it with a line repeatedly. He was anxious she might be rejecting his offer but then she started writing again below her previous answer and this time, he smirked to himself.

Sounds lovely.

He looked at her, not expecting for her to be looking back at him with a small smile on her lips.

Maybe next time he'll think about studying more in the library.

I swear I will go down with this ship. :)

Tell me what you think?
