Tetra gazed down at the symbol on her hand, still in a state of minor shock and confusion over the events.
"Ok, suck it up Tetra. You only need to wait, that's all. Nothing more." The attempt to console herself wasn't doing any good. She had been sitting in the same area for the past hour, hoping it would speed up time. It didn't, of course. No one was there to keep her company, only the statues that held their mighty swords above her head.
"I suppose you guys don't mind being down here, right?" She looked up and spoke to the stone figures, which were silent.
"Ugh, of course you can't talk." She stood up and brushed her dress, "It helps to think you can, at least."
While she maneuvered her way down the steps and to the other staircase, she took a glance at the stain glass paintings on the wall, which distracted her so much that managed to trip over her own dress.
"Stupid thing! How did the other princesses handle this?!" She regained her balance and daintily made her way to the main staircase, where she sat down.
"Sorry I took so long." She heard a voice, an oddly familiar one, from a distance.
She leaned back to see who the figure was, and frowned, "Yeah, really."
He began walking towards her, "I'm sorry I was so hasty back there, but I couldn't talk about family things with Link around."
"Yeah, but you mentioned my mother!" She snapped, and looked away from him.
He stopped, "And she loved you."
"I know that."
"We both do, so much."
She turned her head back to look at him, her arms still crossed, "But…why did you both have to leave me?"
The words stung him, but he continued to walk towards her, "I didn't want Ganondorf to take you away as well. I…"
She stood up, "You, what?" Her tone became more serious, questioning him.
"I had to stay here and seal everything away. I had to keep you safe." He smiled, quite faintly as he pulled the Pirate's Charm from his pocket.
"I had this stone to watch over you, you know. You've grown so much, she would be so proud of you."
Her eyes grew wide when she glanced down at the charm, remembering when they had given it to her. Even if it was a hazy memory, it was there. Along with that, she began to remember when she took her first steps on the shore, or when she drew her first map, and those times when the thunder shook the ship so much she ran to her parents for safety. Through it all, her father was there to look after her and even now, he didn't stop protecting her. She shook herself back into reality and glanced at him, her father.
"Dad." She mumbled, making him look up at her, "You'll stay with me, right?"
He smiled as she reached the bottom of the stairs and headed over to him, noticing that familiar hint of life in his eye that she faintly remembered as a child.
"For as long as I can, I'll stay with you. Even when I'm not around, I'll be there." He promised, gripping the charm in his hand.
She smiled back and embraced him, "I missed you, Dad."
"As did I, my little princess." He chuckled, remembering the nickname he had called her when she was only a child.
