Chapter 1: Drunken Confessions
The rib joint had been great, just like Cam had said it would be. While everybody had had a great time, one person in particular seemed to have a little too much fun. As they all piled back in to Daniel's SUV, Vala seemed normal, but she was far from it.
20 minutes later.
Vala was drunk, and not just a little tipsy, she was drunk. As they pulled into the parking spot at the base, Cam nudged her, and didn't get a response. She was awake, he observed, but she was in a world of her own.
"Vala, we're back," he told her pointlessly. She just ignored him. "Hey Daniel," he called up to the driver's seat, "I think we might have a problem. Vala isn't responding."
Daniel turned around as everyone but Vala exited his SUV. He nudged her, "You ok?". She ignored his question and just kept staring at her hands in wide-eyed wonder. "Ok, I'm coming around to get you out now, since you're obviously oblivious to the world." He got out of the car and went around to her side. He opened the door, and tried to help her out but she pushed him away, suddenly realizing his existence, and stated in a slurred but firm tone, "I can do it myself."
She then tried with all her might to extricate herself from the vehicle for the next minute, before realizing that she still had her seatbelt on. When she couldn't get it to release at first, she seamed close to tears. Then, when she finally got out of it, she threw herself out of the car with so much force that she ended up a crumpled heap in Daniel's arms. She tried to pull herself up and stand on her own, but the second she started walking, she drifted heavily to the left. Daniel took this as his cue to grab her around the waist and lead her back into the SGC.
"Perhaps five martinis were a bit much?" he stated as they headed, right behind Cam, into the elevator.
"Are you insinuating that I can't hold my liquor? I'll have you know that I have one of the highest alcohol tolerances I know," she stated, he words slurring more and more by the second.
They got out of the elevator and parted with Cam as they headed to Vala's room. She was resting her head on his shoulder, and he had to admit that it wasn't that bad.
"He's got a nice butt," Vala stated to no one in particular. Daniel looked down at her, utterly confused and asked, "What are you talking about?"
"Cam has a nice butt," she reiterated, and wistfully continued, "It's just so… firm." When she saw the look of confused shock come over Daniel's face she quickly added (or as quickly as she could with her slur), "Oh, but I like yours much better!"
Daniel shook his head and sighed as they came to her door. "Vala, What am I going to with you?"
She turned toward him. "Anything you want," she said trying her best to be seductive in her condition, but failing miserably.
"Vala, you know I'd never take advantage of you while you were drunk"
She looked up at him and smiled. She seemed to sober up a little as she put her arms around his neck and tilted her head, then said, "I know… That's why I love you. You actually respect me."
Daniel just stared down at her, trying to hide the shock he knew must be evident on his face while she turned around, pulled the card key through the slot, and opened her door. Did she just say she – but his thoughts were cut off as she turned back to him, swayed a little, and giggled as she leaned against her now open door.
"Well, I'll see you in the morning," she stated and stumbled into her room, closing the door behind her, and leaving Daniel alone with his now tumultuous thoughts.
