I'm the Avatar

Mako walked across the room to Korra.

"You can't go, it's not safe Korra. Amon nearly took your bending away last time."

"I have to Mako, what are my other options?" Korra asked.

A breeze blew in through the open door causing Korra to shiver.

"If I don't face Amon, who will he hurt next? He has taken bending away from hundreds of people and it's my duty to end it."

Korra's head rested in her upturned palms. It was harder now to face him. Last time she had been more bold, more naive about the reality that is Amon. Now it was harder. Every time she thought about it, dread rose up in her stomach. Why did he want to see her again, face to face? He wouldn't come alone, she knew that. He would bring his Chi blockers and it wouldn't be a fair fight for her. If she didn't go she would be a coward, Amon would say. If she didn't go she would be a failure and let down not just Republic City, but the whole world. Korra had to go and see him.

"Korra, are you alright?"

Mako's voice was strained.

"I'm fine."

She wasn't.

"I have to meet him, I have to fight him one on one and take him down. Everyone is depending on me.

Korra stood up and faced Mako

"And if I don't who will?"

The breeze continued blowing, bringing silence into the room.

Korra sat down and leaned back onto her pillow. Maybe if she could have learnt air bending by now she would have a chance. She worked on her air bending every day. She meditated, used her probending techniques but nothing helped, nothing changed. She still couldn't air bend.

Tentatively she reached out her arms in front of her, hoping.

"Bend" she whispered.

Her arms fell back down.

"Can't Tenzin and Lin go instead? Together I'm sure they could take him." Mako said.

The breeze wrapped around Korra.

"No Mako, they can't go. It has to be me."

"Just because Amon asked you? Last time he ambushed you, Korra! You can't! It's a trap and we both know it, Republic City knows it. You can't meet him again without us to help you.

Mako began to pace back and forth in the room.

The breeze picked up in speed.

"Why do you have to go, Korra? Why?"

The breeze dropped, the room was stagnant.

Korra moved off her bed and stood, blocking the open doorway. Her eyes reflected the moonlight.

"I'm the Avatar"
