Who's woods these are I think I know...
Remus Lupin trudged
through the woods on the outskirts of Godric's Hollow.
"Oh no, I think I'm
lost," he thought to himself. But then he saw a sign, in the abandoned woods,
on an old tree. The Marauders. He laughed to himself. It was the exact spot
where they wrote the Marauders Map.
"Brings back so many
good memories," he thought before trudging on through the snow.
His house is in the village though...
"James had once called these his woods. But now, hopefully..." he stopped. The sky was so beautiful. But he had to get to the Potters!
He will not see me stopping here...
"Well, maybe if I just rest for a second. It won't make that much of a difference."
To watch his woods
fill up with snow...
My little horse must
think it queer...
Remus looks at the sky. No moon.
"Good," he thinks, "Nothing to worry about. I just hope..."
To stop without a
farmhouse near...
Remus looks around. No one, anywhere. The old clubhouse they used to have was torn down. He looks at the sky. Snow. Odd, for snow in October.
"Well, November is near, very near..."
Between the woods
and frozen lake...
He sits down.
"If only..." and stops. He would just rest for a few more minutes...
The darkest evening
of the year...
He gives his harness
bells a shake...
Far off in the distance, he hears church bells ringing.
"Oh, how I remember that, the day Sirius was made secret keeper. But who would've known..."
To ask if there is
some mistake...
"Dumbledore had offered to be secret keeper. But James insisted that Sirius would die rather than let him be killed." Remus sighs...
The only other
sound's...
Far off, he hears whispering.
"That can't be good..."
The sweep of easy
wind and downy flake...
The woods are lovely
dark and deep...
-Lily, take Harry and go.
-But...
-Take Harry and go!
But I have promises
to keep...
Remus hears more hi cackling laughter. He hears Lily scream.
And miles to go
before I sleep...
He rushes to the Potters. He sees Voldemort disappear.
And miles to go
before I sleep...
"Oh no, I'm too late," he sits down and puts his head in his hands. A minute later, Sirius comes and sits down next to him.
"I had to warn them. YOU!" he yells pointing a finger at Sirius.
"YOU were their secret keeper!"
"Moony, you don't understand, it wasn't me! It was Pettigrew. I made James switch right at the last minute. I never thought...this!"
"I had to warn them. I believe you Padfoot. But I had to warn them, but I stopped in the woods to rest. And now... I have many, many miles to go before I can rest again."

Stopping By the Woods on a Snowy Evening
By Robert Frost
The Harry Potter gang belongs to J.K. Rowling, of course you know that!
A/N This is what I thought had happened that night. Of course, Remus forgets it was Peter because he is in such gloom, but the idea came to me out of nowhere.
