A/N: Happy Halloween! Based off of the story of how my best friend started dating his current girlfriend. This is me wanting to write but not having time to write full chapters of things like Tales… so… sorry? And enjoy?
Anna's pumpkin was starting to sag under the cuts she had made in it's face. She had decided on turning the innocent orange fruit into a reindeer and thought she'd even use sticks as antlers once she was done. She had been very concentrated, not letting anything distract her, but once she looked over at Elsa's pumpkin and found the perfect snowflake carved in it she lost all motivation.
The blonde chuckled kindly when she heard Anna's carving tools clatter to the table in defeat and looked over to see the redhead pouting disappointedly at Elsa's pumpkin.
"Oh, stop. Yours looks fine! It's… a… squirrel... right?"
"It's supposed to be a reindeer." At this, Anna took up her scoop and made to crush the entire pumpkin, but Elsa caught her hand and laughed again. "I see it! It's beautiful."
"Shut up."
In the end, Elsa convinced her that a squirrel was more autumn-y than a reindeer anyway, despite Anna pointing out that a snowflake was a winter thing, and the two pumpkins were packed unceremoniously into Elsa's trunk before she drove the redhead home.
Anna was on her phone in the passenger seat. "I snapchatted our pumpkins to Kristoff and all he said was, 'are you two dating yet?'"
Elsa laughed once more. She and Anna were used to such comments because they spent so much time together. "And what did you say?"
"I said, 'I keep asking myself the same question,'' Anna replied, trying to be as tactfully pointed as she could.
Elsa just laughed again. Anna sat up straighter in her seat and turned as much as she could toward Elsa with the restriction of the seatbelt.
"But… seriously."
All trace of laughter vanished from Elsa's pale face.
"Why aren't we dating? I'm being completely serious."
Elsa took a minute of honest contemplation before answering.
"Um… I don't know. Why aren't we dating?" Her tone was slowly becoming playful again.
"Probably because you haven't asked me out." Anna slumped back in her seat, crossing her arms in mock anger.
"Do you want me to ask you out?"
"Obviously."
"Okay…" They were at a stoplight, so Elsa took the chance to turn to Anna and extract one of her hands from where it was buried in the crook of her elbow.
"Will you go out with me?"
"I'll have to think about it."
"Anna!" Elsa dropped the redhead's hand and used her newly freed hand to smack Anna's shoulder.
"I'm kidding! Yes, I will go out with you."
The light turned green and Elsa accelerated.
"Well, that was easy," she said, glancing at Anna out of the corner of her eye, who giggled and picked up her phone from her lap to tell Kristoff to finally stop bugging her already.
"You know, I don't really want to go home anymore," she said after shooting another snapchat to Kristoff.
"I don't either," said Elsa, promptly making a U-Turn.
They spent the next hour driving around and talking, the significance of the seemingly casual conversation proved only in each of the girls' burning cheeks.
