Once the three girls got themselves comfortable in the Yukimura household living-room, Lydia cleared her throat. "Okay, girls, down to business. We're here to see if," her looked over her shoulder, "Allison Argent is still in reach." Malia and Kira nodded in synchronization. For the first time in a long period, Lydia smiled. She could sense it. This would work, she thought repeatedly. Allison, I can still sense you. Still, she gave the board on the table an hesitant look. The three girls then proceeded to place their hands on the board, two fingers raised, and occasionally looking back to see if Allison was anywhere near.
Minutes passed. An hour flew by. Malia looked fed-up, and stared at the clock for what seemed like the billionth time in that minute. "Nothing's happening!" she moaned. After a few awkward pauses, Kira added, with a concern look on her face, "Are you sure this is going to work?" Lydia was beginning to lose hope, too, but if she learned anything when she was with Allison, it was never lose hope. She looked at the board, then at Malia, and Kira. "Sweetie, I'm a banshee. I'm... something." She remembered that. "If anyone can contact a dead spirit, it's definitely me. Objections?" she put on a confident look. Kira looked away, deep in thought. "Right. Sorry."
"It's okay." She accepted her apology, but her mind was focused on something else. "We just need some help." The special pendant felt heavy in her pocket, and a steady smile grew on Lydia's lips. "What's tha-" Malia started, but her surprised smile cut her off. "Exactly! The Argent Family's necklace!"
Lydia nodded, taking in their smiles. "I have a feeling this should work." She placed the pendant on the board, and it slowly moved right, towards the letter A, and stopped there. Kira watched attentively, while Malia whispered, "It's-It's on the letter-"
"A," Lydia said, hope swelling to her chest. "I can feel her. I think she's here." Before she even started to question that statement, she heard steps. She could recognize them, the way the steps were so light and young, the pattern she walked in. She immediately turned her head, and almost fell of the couch. She steadied herself and stood up. "A-Allison?" Kira and Malia stood besides each other, gaping at her ghost.
Slowly, Allison smiled. "Hey guys," she said, her voice as cheerful as ever, "Did you miss me?"
