7-year-old Sokka was walking home from playing with the other water tribe boys. All he could think about was how tired and hungry he was. Surely his mother would be cooking something delicious and little Katara would be helping her like always. These sudden thoughts of food made Sokka's stomach grumble. So he was happy to see he was almost home. When he arrived, he pushed back the flap and observed the room. There was his mother preparing dinner with her back to the Katara and the fire. Now, normally you would never turn your back on Katara or else she would end up in some sort of trouble. But this time she was just staring at the fire. Wait! Then Sokka realized she wasn't just staring, she was reaching for the fire.
"Stop!" Sokka screamed. He lunged at her and pulled the 5 year old away from the fire.
"What were you thinking?"
"I don't know" Katara said starting to tear up.
"Don't you know that fire burns and destroys you?"
Katara just cried. Their mother came over and gathered the young girl in her arms.
"Sokka is right, honey. Fire does burn and destroy. But is also can warm and comfort you in your time of need."
"That still doesn't explain why Katara tried to touch it" Sokka interjected.
" You want to know what Katara tried to touch it?" Both small heads nodded.
"Because fire is beautiful."

Katara suddenly woke from her dream and smiled. That memory was still so vivid and fresh. It seemed like it had happen yesterday, not years ago. She turned and gazed at her beloved husband lying next to her. Slowly, she ran her hands through his silky black hair. "Mother was right", she thought, "Fire is beautiful"
