My backpack swung from side to side as I sprinted down to the turf.

"What took you so long Mimi?" Questioned Joanne, pushing her glasses back onto her face.

"Nothing," I lied, then tried to change the subject. "Where's Mark?"

"He's at yearbook club," said Roger as he flipped his hair back. My cheeks started to flush so I immediately became very interested in my ratty converse sneakers.

"Classic Marky," sighed Maureen, practically bouncing over to where we had gathered. "Sorry I'm late, I was at rehearsal for the school musical!" said Maureen, singing the last word.

"Well I was at Mock Trial and I still got here on time," stated Joanne matter-of-factly. Everyone rolled their eyes, while I stifled a giggle. Roger leaned back against the rusty, chain link fence and sighed, the picture perfect "bad boy".

"Alright Roger, we get it, you're cool," teased Maureen, and we all laughed. Just then, Benny hopped out of his dad's car, and walked over to us.

"Hey guys," he greeted. We made eye contact and he came over to me. Our hands brushed and I pulled mine away, glowering at his smirking face.

"HI GUYS!" shouted Angel, running over to our group with Collins in tow. Collins gave a humble wave, and Angel laughed, pulling him closer to her.

"Waaaaaiiit!" we heard someone shout from a distance. We all turned to see Mark flying down the hill, clutching his camera. "Whew, sorry I'm late guys!" Mark apologized, almost out of breath.

"Everyone here?" I asked, although I knew we were. "Alright Bohemians, we've got the homecoming football game tonight, and as we all know, it's the freshmen's job to organize it!" No other freshmen had volunteered to help, so it was just us. "Now, just to make sure, why doesn't everyone go over what they're in charge of?"

"Yay!" squealed Maureen, jumping up and down. Mark smiled and gazed at her like she was the center of his universe.

"I will be running the entrance, making sure everyone's paid to get in," said Joanne, butting in.

"I'm going to be singing the national anthem!" announced Maureen with a curtsy. Everyone gave her a round of a applause while they laughed. I looked around and was filled with happiness. I'm lucky enough to have such wonderful friends who can make me laugh at all hours of the day.

"I'm going to be filming the game for everyone watching at home!" said Mark, waving his camera in the air. He's cherished that camera ever since he got that camera for his twelfth birthday.

"I'll be working in the Snack Shack with Mimi," said Benny, smirking. I rolled my eyes and looked away, frustrated with him.

"Ok lovebirds, don't forget I'm helping you guys too," said Roger, staring at me with his bright green eyes that were filled with mystery.

"We're...we're not..." I sputtered, trying not to blush. But, my efforts had no avail, as I felt myself getting hot and I knew I was turning a very bright shade of red.

"Aw it's ok Meems, they all know we're together," said Benny, putting his arm around me. I twisted out of his grip, and stormed off.

"Seriously Benny? What is wrong with you?" Angel asked, running after me. "Sorry Mimi, he's so annoying when he gets like that. Hey, are you ok?"

"I'm fine," I murmured, wiping the tears from my cheeks.

"Oh honey, you don't look fine." said Angel, which made me laugh. "And hey, it looked like 'bad boy' Roger out there was J-E-A-L-O-U-S!"

"Really?" I asked, trying not to sound too hopeful.

"Definitely honey," assured Angel.

"Thanks Angie, you're the best," I said, flinging my arms around her. She returned my hug, and then it was time to go home.
