I looked out the back of the D77-TC Pelican. I started to think to myself. "So much for my retirement." I was a former SPARTAN II and III trainer. I had fought on Jericho VII, Harvest, and many other planets and colonies. I figured retirement was the best thing for my age. Turns out SPARTANS don't retire, we just rest. I was wearing my old SPARTAN armor. It was black with purple highlights. It consisted of a Commando US/FC-I[2] helmet, MJOLNIR MK. V left shoulder piece, ODST right shoulder piece, UA/COUNTERASSAULT chest piece Tactical/UGPS wrist piece, Tactical/Soft Case utility, Gold Visor, and FJ/Para knee guards.

I was one of the first to be contacted about the Insurrectionist strike against Reach. The pilot told me that I was being dropped off at CASTLE Base for further instructions. "Man, how does how does this sound so familiar?" I thought to myself.

The pilot descended the bird and landed on the helipad. "I can't believe it's happening here at Reach," I said to myself, walking into the base. Casualty reports could be heard throughout the base about the Insurrectionists and their tyranny. I arrived at the noisy War Room where Colonel Urban Holland was looking over the reports.

"They've finally done it. Those Insurrectionists bastards are trying to take Reach and are becoming successful," he said going into the Control Room. "It seems that these lawless bastards aren't going to stop until the annihilation of all ONI bases. This is going to end here," Colonel Holland said looking at the screens of the terminals.

"So, is this where I come in?" I asked. "To eradicate all of them and protect the base?"

"You're half correct. You are to eliminate all of them, but you will not be protecting the base. I need you to infiltrate one of their local camps and collect any crucial evidence of their whereabouts, plans, and other important documents," he said looking at me.

"Will I be accompanied on this mission?" I asked. Normally I lead a squad of Marines or O.D.S.T.s.

"No, you will be doing this alone. You're well experienced in the art of war," the colonel said looking at me as if he were proud, which is rare.
"So, I believe you can handle yourself."
I walked into armory. I already had my M6G Magnum with a 12 round extended clips. I took a SRS99 AM SE Sniper Rifle and MA37 Assault Rifle. I then boarded a UH-144 Falcon that was headed to South of Manassas, a farming province.

The Falcon dropped me off at a hill. I worked my way down through the mild woodland. I crept up onto the cliff with my sniper rifle, and my helmet pinged as I began to approach the camp. The camp that I was prepared for was an Insurrection camp, but not a Covenant camp. "No, this isn't a damned Insurrection setup. This is a fucking Covenant army! I need to report this to Colonel Holland about this immediately," I hissed. "But first I need to take out these assholes."
I inspected the area and number of enemies. 16 grunts, 13 jackals, 8 elites, 5 skirmishers, and 2 hunters. "Well, they must be hiding something good. I better do this quietly." I said, putting on the suppressor to the sniper rifle. "Hm... Which one should I take out first?" The hunters post the biggest threat, but they don't have a head, so I'll go after the leader, then they should fall or scatter easily."

I steadied my rifle and I spotted a Zealot class Elite, wielding an Energy Sword and a Plasma Rifle sidearm, leaving an abandoned building. "So... You're the leader..." I held my breath and pulled the trigger. The first shot rang through my helmet as it pierced my ears. The bullet went through the skull of the elite as if it were paper. Brain matter and blood covered the pavement along with a few comrades. The elite was dead before he hit the ground. They all opened fire from where my shot came from.

I quickly took another shot and it blasted through two grunt's skulls, painting the pavement with their blood. The jackal snipers found me and fired at by location. I quickly took cover behind a rock. I knew I had to neutralize them quickly, but I had to find out their location. I waited for their shots and I pinpointed them. I counted four snipers. One of the locations I shot at using my last two rounds. One hit in the head of one and the other one in the neck. They all found my location and some decided to charge. I pulled the pin of my Frag Grenade and threw it towards the ground, I was glad they didn't see it. It exploded, taking with it 3 elites, 9 grunts, 4 jackals, a skirmisher, and injured an elite badly.

"Yes! I couldn't do that twice if my life depended on it." I chuckled, but my laughter was ended short as a hunter slammed his shield arm into me, sending me crashing into a boulder, I lost my grip on my sniper rifle, and it flew away. I took my assault rifle from its magnetic hold on my back and opened fire on him, burning through clips on the beast. "Dammit, this isn't working." I groaned, reloading my rifle. The hunter charged me and I tried to dodge, but still was hit by the shield. I was on my face-plate, coughing. I found a Plasma Grenade nearby from a grunt. I pushed the button, activating it. I threw it at him, landing on his helmet and blew up, killing him instantly.
I sighed in relief, but then I remembered there was a second one. I found my sniper rifle and reloaded it. The hunter was charging at me when I quickly fired the gun. The gun had some effect, but it didn't kill him. I used my magnum to finish him, using half of my clip. I sighed as the biggest threat was taken out.

Suddenly, I heard an igniting of a plasma grenade and I turned around to see the injured elite had started the detonation of the explosive. I quickly tackled him, knocking the grenade out of his hand. He landed on an unlucky suicide grunt, crushing him. The suicide grunt's grenades had landed on two unlucky grunts with the elite's grenade on another. A large explosion occurred while I fought the elite. I used my combat knife to stab him viciously in the side of the skull. I tugged my knife out of his head, picking up my assault rifle and sniper rifle. I searched for the rest of the snipers. I saw the fallen ones were replaced and not only that, but new ones were there as well. I had luck on my side, sorta. One had a Focus Rifle so I easily pinpointed the location. I used my last two clips on them.

"That solved the turkey problem." I said, smirking slightly. "Now let's see my kill feed." I checked my VISR list: Grunts: check, Jackals: check, Hunters: check, 3 Skirmishers and 4 Elites left. I exited the VISR and searched for the rest of the enemies. I equipped my assault rifle and the search began, I saw a skirmisher jumped overhead, but I wasn't quick enough to take him out.
I saw two enemy markers on my HUD radar and they were closing in. I prepared myself, but I couldn't see them. They had apparently had their Active Camouflage on. I knew I was dealing with Special Op Elites. I tried to shoot at the one on my right as it was appearing next to me, but I missed and I was hit in the head from behind. I was knocked down and being savagely beaten on by two elites. I was kicked in the ribs and my head was punted. I started to cough up blood in my helmet. I was nearing unconsciousness. I tried to fight back, but it failed. I saw my assault rifle and I lunged at it, only to be pulled back by the duo. I felt almost hopeless. I noticed one of them was wearing down, and his camo started to flicker as it was about to disengage.

I timed my attack, and I was able to grip his arm and flip on top of him. I was punching on him as he was under me. I heard a hissing noise and the second elite's Energy Dagger had stabbed my helmet, and it barely missed my head. It destroyed my HUD. I was then kicked by him, pulling the dagger out of my helmet. The second elite aimed and launched another stab with the heated blade, but I pulled the first elite on top, protecting myself and causing friendly fire at the same time. The smell of burning flesh was making me ill and I almost vomited in my helmet. I pushed his dying body off of me, pinning the second one. The first elite was dead now as the heated blade had struck one of his hearts. His dead body had his ally stuck, which I took advantage of by retrieving my assault rifle and blasting 32 bullets into the skull of the downed elite.

Suddenly, I felt something sharp pierce by back. I turned to see it was a needle from a Needle Rifle that a skirmisher was wielding. It was mostly blocked by my remaining Energy Shields. A Ranger Elite landed in front of me. I quickly aimed my assault rifle, not realizing it was out of ammo, but it was shot out of my hands by the needle rifle. I kicked his Plasma Repeater out of his hands. was now going hand-to-hand combat with the elite. I was able to avoid most of his attacks, but I took a few hard hits by him. I punched him in the face hard, knocking him back so he was facing opposite of me. I grabbed him from behind and used him as a meat shield. I picked up his gun and aimed at the skirmishers. The skirmishers ceased fire when they seen the elite was in the way of their shots, so I used that for my liking and killed two of them immediately. I snap the elite's neck, eliminating him. I withdrew my knife and threw it at the needle rifle skirmisher, hitting him in the forehead. "Bullseye."

I sighed as that was the last of them. "Now that's taken care of." I went to investigate the vacant building where the Zealot was shot. I observed the room, and it seemed to be a commanding outpost. It had terminals, a radio transmitter, and other communication technology. I tried to translate any of it, but failed.

I felt a cold presence behind me and along with a noise. I turned around on a dime aiming my pistol. "Hello? Is anyone there?" I took a few paces until the doorway of the room. I holster my pistol I realized I was probably hearing things. A slight hissing noise broke the silence and a light bluish/white glow appeared at my throat followed by a voice saying.
"Don't move, Demon."
